If you want to blame anyone for the decline of a once flourishing labor movement in NYC, you have to blame the Communist Party in the 1920s, which set as its sights capturing the movement from the Socialist Party to make it bow to the Kremlin.

This bit of news — at least 40 dead— appears around the 27th graf of the NYT story. Which is a really bizarre choice.

(And we find out a few grafs down that several US soldiers were injured)

Absolutely, THIS.
Both of my grandmothers’ families (their parents) were arrested in the middle of the night, declared “the enemies of state”, and thrown in prison, resulting in one of my grandmothers becoming an orphan. FOR HAVING A COW.
Not sure if folks really understand that the way collectivization of farms worked in the Soviet Union resulted in the starvation, imprisonment, torture, and death of millions. It's not a meme.

the administration wants to frame this (bizarrely) as law enforcement. but if law enforcement conducted a raid for a suspect and killed 40 people, including an unknown number of unarmed civilians, it would be treated as a clear disaster like Waco.
NYT:

At least 40 people were killed in the US attack on Venezuela, including military personnel and civilians.

The people of Georgia continue their opposition - how they wish Trump had the balls to protect this Christian nation from an illegitimate government.

It's Day 402 of daily protests - the weekend marches draw the biggest crowds. Today "Freedom for Prisoners of the Regime"

Does Polymarket have odds on someone shooting up a synagogue in New York, because at this point we have to take it as a predictor of any threat.

Donald Trump is now reposting videos on Truth Social suggesting that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz had Melissa Hortman assassinated.

This is objectively evil, and calling it out should not be political.

A thread of Democrats saying everything that people (and bots) say they should say.
Oh look, a Democrat.

🧵 1/
Rep. Seth Moulton comes on CNN and starts by saying: "Is anyone going to just stop for a second and be honest? This is insane. What the hell are we doing? We've got a lot of problems in America today, and invading / occupying / running Venezuela does not solve any of them."

NO NOTES! Perfect to point this out. The Democrats are respecting Venezuelan sovereignty.
Schumer - "Two hrs ago the prez said that the VP of Venezuela would listen to what he says. And then just a few minutes ago she said that they should release Maduro--and that she doesn't support what the...Trump gov has done."

Anyone gonna bitch about this statement because it is NO notes.
The Venezuelan people elected Edmundo González to run their country.

Not Pete Hegseth or Marco Rubio.

The American people do not support another expensive foreign war that risks the lives of our men and women in uniform.

There is an opposition party to Donald Trump. You all failed to put them in power. So apologizing to Venezuelans by saying there isn't an opposition party is just self-excusing virtue signaling and even the Venezuelans know it.

Also, I know that this site sucks at reading comprehension, but I’m pretty sure it’s obvious my argument here is that Venezuelan oil is not economical to process, but many people in the replies/quotes are telling me to go unalive myself because I think that we should be stealing Venezuela oil(???)
OK, crash course in oil. Oil has two main gradings, viscosity (light or heavy) and sulfur (sweet or sour). A light (low viscosity) and sweet (low sulfur) oil is easier to process into gasoline and other products than a heavy and sour one, so the light & sweet oil commands a premium price.
I know several oil barons, I’ve had the oil and gas industry as clients in a past life: none of them want the Venezuelan oil, it’s dog shit quality and getting the PDVSA fields up to modern standards would take 20 years! It’s just trump being stuck in 1987
