Okay. Time for a thread about the Accelerationist propaganda mod for Hearts of Iron 4 and why it's bad that I don't see anyone in the field really talking about how video games and the networks around them are working to radicalize young men at an alarming rate. It urgently needs to be addressed /1

Like I was saying. Rugpulling the expanded premium tax credits suddenly dumps a few million people out of the market and leads to shit like this as insurance cos react, which quickly becomes self perpetuating.

And that’s how you de facto repeal the aca.

podcaster History Day is every day. Maybe be someone who is Zoroastrian, a Hindu or part of the Green Party or even someone who has vampirism. You should reevaluate your podcaster privilege Bobby. You never had to fight for your right to coexist in society.

A single shared source of truth is essential for a functioning democracy.

Without it you’re left with fragmentation, polarisation and a perpetual culture war where the discourse focuses on what divides us rather than what we have in common.

Why American-style polarisation is spreading across the west
New research shows how incentives in the modern media ecosystem help explain rising division and negativity

Werner Sombart said in 1906 that there was no socialism in America because "Socalism wrecked on the reefs of roast beef and apple pie." Any attempt to try and take cheap meat away from Americans will NOT end well. Average American would see the rest of the world flooded than give up their burgers.
i'm convinced if we ever tried to touch the rail of meat politics in America (something that's going to eventually need to happen in order to reduce CO2 emissions), it would lead to a huge right-wing shock
remembering the time a random catholic priest got mad at me about a hypothetical about the government restricting meat production on the other site

meat politics is going to be insane for the next Dem administration which takes climate change seriously, imo

We really have been just reenacting this particular fight over and over and over again ever since the dawn of civilization and it's gotten rather annoying.
The historian in me feels the need to note that contests between cities and their rural hinterland are not new things and they do not generally go great for the rural folks.
California alone produces a third of all the food America eats. So this is a lie.

But let’s break down the food produced by the red states:

Guess what percent is harvested by people from Latin America?

finally, we can repeal Obamacare and all it took was 8 democrats
Rick Scott told me his plan would be to take all of the remaining ACA subsidies and redistribute them to HSA accounts and people can then buy whatever insurance a state certifies. Basically a repeal/replace.
He denied when I asked wouldn’t that create two-tiered system where sick pay much more…

1) so that really was for nothing, huh

more importantly, 2) the GOP just repealed the Affordable Care Act

3) a bunch of senate dems just signed their death warrants. Schumer, Fetterman, Masto, at least - perhaps more
UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

Schmittian dichotomies rule everything around me and I hate that.
little bit odd that AIPAC is clearly bad and does bad things but has turned into some kind of bogeyman for leftwingers

it's almost like no one wants to Do Politics, they just assume all their enemies are in a secret cabal that rules the party

Musk has never listened to/read the Iliad if he thinks it's about "fighting for princesses". That is such a surface level, high school take of what themes and concepts the Iliad explores that it literally makes my head hurt.

So every part of this is dumb but the idea that the Iliad is about 'fighting for princesses' is such a vapid take on a work that tells you exactly what it is about in the first (and last) lines.

You can tell the poem isn't really about Bryseis because her return does not resolve the conflict.

The squishy Dems caved to basically get a result like this on a (promised) vote for ACA subsidies in December. Pathetic.

I'm not really sure this sort of thing is going to work out right now because anything less than a brutally accurate adaptation is going to not seem trite in the face of what is currently occurring, and I don't think he's capable of that. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think so
