i think if you post like this without offering concrete steps people can take to prepare for and respond to interference or without any acknowledgement of the success (or lack thereof) of this strategy then you are basically engaged in voter suppression.

The fact that both are quite experienced—8 years and 12 years with CBP—is yet more evidence that CBP should be abolished and all of its agents fired. There's no way to "reform" or "retrain" that, it's just a violent gang with badges.

there were also literally people *in America* advocating for amnesty for Jewish refugees for this exact reason! people knew about the holocaust!
Eh, the Allies knew while it was going on. Not all the details, for sure, but they certainly knew the general contours of Nazi genocidal plans and that they were being carried out.
People say we can't compare this to the Third Reich because of the atrocities but we only found out about the atrocities after the fact when it was all said and done and we're not done with this yet so I am sure the worst stomach churning shit has yet to be revealed.

*sigh* here we go again. Your phone is not listening to everything around you 24/7 for advertising purposes. *If* you have voice activation on for the assistant, the mic is listening for the activation phrase: the processing power for listening for a single specific phrase is much lower.
Do you remember when people were saying "I think my phone is listening to me, i'm getting ads for stuff I spoke about" and people said "They arent listening to you, they're just this good at predicting your interests"?

this is just all fucking horrifying. there is no amount of "border security" that is worth this.
so here's the problem, border patrol is already supposed to only operate within a given distance of the border
I would get rid of ICE and CBP and have Border Patrol restricted to 10 miles from each border only (no coasts). A Customs service can handle port inspections/security and USCIS would handle all immigration enforcement. Almost all would be unarmed and rely on FBI or Marshals for use of force.
