this did very much happen, yes. they did make a point of threatening to kill a locally elected democrat for explaining how crude oil works
And, on top of all this, actively hate and try to drive away anyone who is well connected to what is happening, does have insider tips, is capable of basic reasoning, values the truth over their immediate feelings, and admits when they don't know. They literally send such people death threats.
BlueSky is fundamentally a low information network full of people who are not well connected to what is happening, do not have insider tips, are largely not capable of basic reasoning, do not value the truth over their immediate feelings, and habitually confabulate rather than admit they don't know.

it's very important that wherever incumbents have retired but endorsed a specific candidate to succeed them, that person loses that primary

Dems: Here are our demands to support a DHS funding bill: [long list of moderate reforms]
Internet leftists: Fuck you! Abolish ICE or GTFO!
GOP: We refuse to even consider this list of extreme leftist demands. We'd rather shut down DHS.
Internet leftists: Fuck yeah! Where are the Dems on this?!

Someday, everyone needs to reckon with the utterly blasé attitude with which the internet left invokes the slaughter in Gaza as a rhetorical cudgel to beat social media enemies with.

It cheapens the suffering, has no positive benefit at all, and turns a real war crime into a meme. It’s disgusting.

this is like the exact argument I would expect a libertarian to make (derogatory)
So, my liberal buds, my progressive pals: you know how you're beginning to realize that ICE (perhaps the whole of DHS?) is structured to allow abuses, riddled with career psychopaths, utterly beyond saving as an institution?

Now, consider, in the spirit of inquiry: the entire federal government

The person trying to argue 50% of Americans are below the poverty line doing so while also failing to accurately perform basic math is basically bluesky.txt

the story here, which Kornacki gets right, is not exemplified in Mejia leading

it's that she's barely beating Malinowski who, while not a leftist, was an anti machine candidate who faced down an absolute money cannon of negative ads from DMFI and the machine

the *machine* lost here spectacularly

remember also that Republicans seem to be pumping the brakes on redrawing Florida in the wake of bad special performances and Democratic pushback

and even if they do go for it, Hochul is right there waiting to go to go super saiyan and draw out 5 from NY
🚨BREAKING: Virginia Democrats just dropped a new congressional map — and it could flip FOUR more House seats blue in 2026.

If courts greenlight it, Virginia voters will decide whether the new map takes effect.
Virginia Democrats release proposed map aimed at picking up 4 congressional seats
Virginia’s congressional delegation could look a lot more blue.

Refreshing to have kids at a political presser that is joyful, rather than announcing new policies allowing child labor
Child at the podium: “A woo woo woo.”

Mamdani: That’s how I felt when we came up with this plan. Together, we will expand the idea of what is possible in our city—and what sounds and noises we can make at a press conference.

Andy Kim refusing to allow Phil Murphy to coronate his wife has actually destroyed one of the most entrenched machines in American politics.

Genuinely fascinating how like they have a open extramarital affair and no one on the religious right cares
it is kinda wild how Kristi Noem's side piece is the dude technically performing the duties deputy secretary of homeland security if not just duties of the secretary outright

We should just run Mamdani everywhere, just need a mayor who maxed out charisma in every city in America and then our electoral problems are solved

Katie Britt is still so choked up about the kids detained by ICE she calls the pretty reasonable list of Dems demands like no masks or bodycams “ridiculous“

Dems have literally no incentive to fold; by passing the other five bills, they've cabined the harm from a shutdown to only a small corner of government and mostly inconveniences rather than existential crises

And they've got public support. Hard to imagine why they'd ever fold
