Welcome to the Chinese Century. We're going to go green in the ruins of our collapsed empire at the point of a gun, and we'll deserve it
This a big deal: "China’s carbon dioxide emissions have been flat or falling for 18 months"
China's economy has grown by ~5% in the last year, so this comprehensively debunks the idea (again) that emissions are tied to growth. So yes, faster progress needed, but this is how you turn the corner.

Easy. Bond wakes up to discover that he's now an undertaker, charged with guiding the villians of the world to the circumstances of their death and the afterlife immediately beyond. He does this to a random hot chick first, naturally
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Consider that Tuesday's elections showed that dems could win *despite* dem leadership, despite Schumer relentlessly ratfucking them even up to the very last minute.
Millions of people volunteered, and saw for themselves how totally fucking useless dem leaders were compared to themselves.

Unfortunately you have to primary everyone, not just because they don't have what it takes to fight, but because they don't have what it takes to rebuild. Last thing you want is them to win by default and then tread water until the next Trump comes to power
what the moment calls for is fighters instead of gormless boobs who should have retired 30 years ago. policy differences can be hashed out later, everyone can agree that Musk and Trump must be stopped and democracy restored
“Unlike the Tea Party of 2010, this is not an issue that breaks down cleanly along ideological lines. An insurgency isn’t necessarily going to pull Dems to the left, especially because Dem voters can’t really agree on which ideological direction to take their party.” split-ticket.org/2025/02/21/t...

anyway if dems think I'm gonna forget this shit in 5 months, they're wrong. if they think I'm gonna forget it in 5 years, they're wrong. they have fully convinced me that purging the party of these inept losers in the senate is more important than retaking the senate in the next election cycle

I am kind of sitting here mouth agape as I realize that the thing that really got eight Democrats to cave was a provision which provides backdoor criminal and civil immunity to them personally by making it functionally impossible to ever investigate the Senate
read the actual bill text and this is quite literally a provision designed solely to impede civil and criminal investigations into United States Senators and their staff. www.appropriations.senate.gov/imo/media/do...

Called it a week and a half ago. Once the airline industry came out and told them to end the shutdown, they did. Dems caved because they were worried about negative impacts to holiday travel. In this capitalist hell, that's what matters most, not the pain of ordinary people.
It's telling that the pain that ordinary people are feeling doesn't register at all to politicians. They're only responsive when their donors and big corporations get angry. Remember when Delta pressured the CDC to cut the quarantine period--contrary to the science--and they did?
Delta and United call on Congress to immediately end government shutdown, pay air traffic controllers
The airline industry is pushing Republicans and Democrats to reopen the government as air traffic controllers work without pay.

The year is 2039. My family and I live in the wreckage of a now-defunct data center, where we scrounge components to sell to rare-earth scrappers. The Democrats are folding on a campaign pledge to ensure that God-Emperor Barron Trump's signature "Babies Is Food Now" measure isn't extended
