I think one has to understand this before one can really understand the scope of the struggle of trying to ween Americans off cheap meat for the sake of combating climate change.

I think one has to understand this before one can really understand the scope of the struggle of trying to ween Americans off cheap meat for the sake of combating climate change.
A lot of the purity culture that is seen within Abrahamic religious laws comes from the fact that the people writing them were nomadic folk who wanted to keep their more insular societies "pure" from the more "degenerate" culture of urbanized places like Egypt, Babylon and Rome.
