Parliament must ban Canadian firms from doing business with ICE - Halifax Examiner
An unbridled fascist state next door will necessarily lead to the end of Canadian sovereignty.

This is the thing that I keep coming back to

“I didn’t vote for THIS” Okay, well, a *huge* number of people knew that if the guy you voted for won, this is exactly what would happen. So why did they know and you didn’t? What did you miss? Why did you get it so wrong?
I need people who were wrong about everything to actually look back and recognize that there was a reason they were wrong and maybe they need to update their understanding of the world.

Otherwise they don't really think they were wrong.

this is a fake problem. no one is saying this to regular, offline people who are coming around. they’re saying it to people who are engaged in professional political analysis who committed professional malpractice by scolding people who saw what was coming.

no, those people shouldn’t get a break.
Bluesky idea: if people who didn't agree with you change their opinions so that they do agree with you, why not be happy that you are making progress - rather than complaining that they are "only just catching up"?

I got fooled by someone who is famous for being a conman until it was too late. Here’s why that’s actually smarter than seeing it coming:

It is very funny watching right wingers go straight into “anything that hurts my feelings is violence” without even doing any throat clearing about how this is different from all the stuff they just spent years making fun of. At least make up an excuse guys

We do know for sure that genAI and LLMs can’t feel. They are a “yes and?” machine designed to be sycophants, the fact that it keeps generating programming behaviours that are beyond the ability to fix of its creators isn’t proof of life. It’s proof the people making it aren’t as smart as they think

I know I’m a broken record about this but it never ceases to amaze me that these Nazi and Confederate fetishists have, out of the gate, combined the most catastrophic and ruinous errors of both.

I keep thinking “my god the people they’ve killed seem like exceptionally good folks” and I think the lesson there is that they’re not exceptional, but that wonderful people abound and that a baseline distrust in humanity is a shitty conservative trope that privileges power over collective strength
you don't become a martyr because you were a saint, you become a saint because you were martyred
I agree that we can’t make Alex Pretti a Benedictine monk because that’s a trap, but we can talk about the good things we did because people will see and hear them and think “I do those things too”

Regarding the regime, the best moral argument against political violence is that, as long as mass nonviolent resistance is an option, the bar for actually justifying violent rebellion cannot be reached.

And right now, mass nonviolent resistance is kicking fucking ass.

I can't put into words the feeling of watching our government, a hive of evil antisocial filth, the absolute worst humanity has to offer, colliding with the best. Ordinary people trying to help each other, risking everything to stand up for what's plainly, unambiguously fair and right. It's unreal

The Devil: A guy who has never had a friend will yell at you for saying something that's not wrong, and not said in the wrong way, but in a way that the guy thinks is wrong.
