Chuck Schumer in particular is a Dem leader who is incredibly unpopular and yet the party that makes claims about “defending democracy” consistently refuses to act or even listen to what voters keep saying about him.

This reminds me of in 3rd or 4th grade we had an assignment where we had to budget out a million dollars and spend the whole amount, and having calculated the cost of trips and video games and every luxury my child brain could conceive, I added a McLaren F1 to account for the other >$800k

The jokes have been writing themselves all morning, but having watched CBS’ lawyers cave all year I too am asking why they get paid.
“I’ve been hearing that standards will be eliminated or severely cut back. Bari has told people that she wants to get rid of standards and is shocked that they have so much power. She also asked openly, ‘What’s the point of standards?’” one CBS source said.

“American Canto” is what Max Fischer would title his memoir.
I don’t think any of us are fully prepared for the level of self-pity and absolution that’s going to be in Olivia Nuzzi’s (hilariously titled) “American Canto”

RIP Tatsuya Nakadai. Too many immortal performances to even summarize but nearly all of them are sharpened to an edge you can shave with. One of the tightest coiled springs in the history of movies.

40 years ago we’d have congressional hearings falsely accusing metal bands of putting backwards messages in their songs that told kids to kill themselves & now we have a planet-killing chatbot that’s all like “bet you won’t commit suicide chickenshit bitch” & the government is like here’s $5 billion

Why is the "we must be united!" hectoring directed at people who are mad at the Cavers and not to the Cavers? Everyone who's mad was united, then the Cave Caucus walked across the aisle and betrayed what the public had been told was the Dem position.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

On the one hand all of our healthcare is about to be ruined but on the other at least we can go to jail again over mildly palliative relaxers demonstrably less unhealthy and damaging to others than alcohol.
of all the things about this deal that are pissing me off this might have pissed me off the most

Doubling the insanity is that this shutdown is the definitive “you’re gonna look so bad dude” that is actually WORKING. They are going to bail out a perfect storm of cataclysmic disasters for the GOP in exchange for getting all the blame when healthcare is eradicated
“Guaranteeing a vote” that you will lose is yet again reliance on the “You’re gonna look so bad dude” shit that has worked exactly zero times. Sorry for the posts about the same thing I feel like I am going insane

The Rock HOF is deeply unserious but seeing OutKast get in is a treat bc I defy any of the usual suspects who get red and nude about hip-hop acts getting inducted to point to literally any charting rock act in 96-03 half as daring, proggy, and form-breaking as them. It’s like Radiohead and that’s it

You might enjoy these quotes from Falk talking in general about Columbo's "reaching into pockets" business. (In that same interview he told me about directing "Blueprint for Murder" and getting help from Cassavetes and Spielberg.)

Guy who looks like Mark Rylance was sucked through a jet turbine and miraculously emerged alive is here to talk about being alpha.
I’m sorry, but a goofy looking guy who grew up a privileged son of a pediatrician and has a phd in social theory from the university of Goethe and started in tech by investing an inheritance left to him by his grandfather talking about being a “dude” is very, very funny to me.

Jurassic World Rebirth: it’s disingenuous for the World movies to keep emphasizing that audiences are too jaded and unappreciative so capitalists keep having to up the stupid ante to undergird a franchise that has pumped so many turd sequels into theaters.
