A conservative SCOTUS affirmed today what we already knew: Trump can't use the National Guard to invade our cities.

Today is a win in our fight against a wannabe king who seeks to advance his authoritarian agenda by abusing military power. 1/2
BREAKING: Huge loss for Trump administration at Supreme Court, which rules that the Trump administration had lacked authority to federalize and deploy the National Guard to execute laws in Illinois. s3.documentcloud.org/documents/26...

The banning of abortion care in the VA, while despicable and dangerous, comes as no surprise.

Service by service, the Trump Administration has dedicated itself to dismantling the care and benefits the VA offers our veterans. 1/2
The Trump administration has made good on its promise to ban abortion care for veterans.

The new directive, obtained by Mother Jones, states that it won’t prohibit care to “pregnant women in life-threatening circumstances, including treatment for ectopic pregnancies or miscarriages."

The policy will even apply in states that protect abortion rights.

The Trump censorship complex strikes again. Trump’s corporate collaborators suppress reports on his international network of human rights violators. Sometimes democracy dies in broad daylight.

After months of trying to conduct oversight of Broadview Processing Center, I finally gained access.

The conditions are inhumane.

We must hold DHS and Secretary Noem accountable for the pain and terror they are inflicting in our communities.
December 22, 2025 at 7:03 PM
The conditions at the Broadview ICE Processing Center are INHUMANE, UNSAFE, INAPPROPRIATE, INADEQUATE.

We will be back.

And we will continue the oversight work until we hold Noem, Homan, Bovino, and DHS accountable.
December 22, 2025 at 6:28 PM
I am back at Broadview ICE Processing Center with a court order declaring that we have the right to conduct oversight.

I am inside with Reps Davis, Garcia, and Jackson. I will share more details shortly.

Heads up, #IL03!

My office will be closed over the holiday to give my team, who does essential work to serve our constituents, time to rest and recharge. The office will closed from Monday, December 22, 2025 - January 2, 2026.

2025 has been the deadliest year for immigrants in ICE custody.

This week, we learned that Nenko Stanev Gantchev, a resident of Illinois, died on December 15th in ICE custody.

No one who causes or tolerates the suffering of children can claim to be their protector.

Since my Republican colleagues seem confused about what love, care, and protection look like, let me be clear: The Protect Children’s Innocence Act isn’t it. I voted NO.

Corruption is written all over Trump's authoritarian administration.

Noem, Trump, and their donors knew that their mass deportation campaign would be good for business, and they are extracting every bit of profit from our neighbors' suffering.
The Department of Homeland Security fast-tracked a contract worth almost $1 billion to a company led by a donor to a pro-Trump nonprofit group where one of the officials overseeing the deal previously worked, according to records reviewed by The Post.

A DHS official leading the process previously worked at the America First Policy Institute, a pro-Trump nonprofit where the contractor’s CEO was a donor.

With 218 signatures, Speaker Johnson can bring a 3-year extension of ACA subsidies to a vote TODAY.

Americans can’t afford to wait till next year. We must protect affordable health care.

When DHS prohibited my visit to Broadview, I made it clear that their actions were unlawful.

Today, the courts blocked Trump's attempts to obstruct our oversight.

I am deeply saddened to learn about the crash at DuPage Airport and the death of the two individuals aboard.

While we learn further details on the incident, my heart is with the loved ones of those who lost their lives.

The Trump Administration is lying, consolidating power, and committing war crimes. We must put an end to the lawlessness that makes us all less safe.

I urge my colleagues to vote YES on H.Res.61 to take back the power and authority that rightfully belongs to Congress.

Trump and Hegseth have executed at least 95 people in violation of U.S. and International Law.

Their abuse of our military power is straight from the authoritarian playbook.
U.S. forces killed eight alleged drug smugglers in three separate boat strikes in the eastern Pacific Ocean on Monday, raising the death toll in the Trump administration’s counternarcotics campaign to at least 95.

We have the 218 signatures needed to bring a 3-year extension of ACA subsidies to a vote.

We can take this vote TODAY! Republicans can vote to change the House rules and move the bill forward NOW.

Speaker Johnson, stop playing with American's health care!

The hypocrisy of those who would quote scripture asserting the preciousness of children, while they pursue new, cruel punishments for child refugees, is despicable.

If listening to a President lie about "weapons of mass destruction" to justify a war for oil sounds familiar, it's because it is.

Warmongers will doom us to repeat the horrors of the past.

Immigrant Justice and Reproductive Justice must be pursued together. Under the Trump Administration, pregnant women and newborn babies are being targeted and put in danger.

Attention, #IL03!

We have received reports of DHS agents back in our communities. Stay safe! The best way to protect ourselves is by knowing our rights and not spreading misinformation.

As the Department of Housing and Urban Development tries to sow mistrust between neighbors and scapegoat migrants, they are stealing funding from permanent housing.

Stay focused. Immigrants did not make your housing unaffordable. It was predatory realtors like Trump and his billionaire bosses.

Extending the ACA subsidies is essential. Letting the subsidies expire does catastrophic harm to our communities.
With two health care bills failing to advance in the Senate on Thursday, the ACA's enhanced premium tax credits — which 90% of enrollees in the government health program rely on to ease the cost of affording health insurance — are almost certain to expire on Dec. 31.
With ACA subsidies set to lapse, millions of Americans face a painful spike in health plan costs
"I don't know how I'm going to pay for this," said one person with an Affordable Care Act plan that will cost her $1,100 a month starting in January.

List-making by the State is an authoritarian tactic. The Trump Administration has given us no reason to believe that a list of the immigrants who provide critical services to veterans, including health care, won't be used to persecute them.
