My recollection was that people’s hopes were very low. It was like wow it might be John Mellencamp, they would have been satisfied with that so that was the level and they were still disappointed

See? Told you. People look at news stories about unhoused people dying in the cold and say "we should have more of this sort of thing", especially when most of those monthly rent gofundmes go to disabled folks already on the borderline of homelessness.
