YES, the thing that makes Muppet Christmas Carol special is Michael Caine working as if the Muppets around him were human actors.
I do think the key for things like Home Alone, Muppet Christmas Carol, etc. is that the actors fully commit to the bit

Revisiting some aughts rock n roll stuff because my kid just got into Yo Gabba Gabba and uh has literally nobody just straight up asked Swami John Reis if he has any personal connection to Hinduism? That era of music journalism was so sycophantic.
