idk politics that well but it seems a little odd to WhatsApp someone who isn't a close friend about how you're doubting the current Prime Minister, especially when that person is an infamous Machiavelli who could easily use those messages to damage you?

oh also a pal of mine today accidentally said in the group chat that she'd been throat training instead of voice training, so yknow, somebody out there is getting clowned on more than Starmer today

does feel kind of insane to think that Maduro was kidnapped less than six weeks ago, pretty sure it must have been in 2022
February 9, 2026 at 5:23 PM
again the counterpoint to "the British public / media / ecosystem / etc. won't *allow* good Prime Ministers to stick around"!!!"

is simply, well have we first tried having a good PM

a lot of people will instinctively point out this seems bad but iirc isn't the average tenure historically for PMs like 3-4 years?

Truss is obviously an insane outlier but otherwise this isn't that unusual, I think
We've had 5 new Prime Ministers since June 2016 Brexit referendum in 9 & a half years
- May (3 yesrs)
- Johnson (3 years)
- Truss (50 days)
- Sunak (20 momths)
- Starner (19 momths, 2 years by July)

Previous 5 PMs lasted 37 years,1979-2016

Average: 7

Thatcher 11
Major 7
Blair 10
Brown 3
Cameron 6

honestly think a lot of the whole thing is probably partly to do with Starmer being a civil servant and thus having no experience in giving proper feedback and telling staff "actually you're shit at this"
February 9, 2026 at 4:37 PM
yknow there's nothing to say that a dog couldn't be prime minister

I think a nice golden retriever could command the confidence of a majority of the house of commons, in most circumstances

sorry but Anas Sarwar has never been colossally important to anything, ever, and I'm including within his own life
