On the first day back following the kidnapping of Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro & first lady Cilia Flores, 6 Senate Democrats vote yea to confirm Keith Bass as an Assistant Secretary of Defense by a vote of 50-35.

Why show up to work at all then? At minimum, as the opposition party you say "This wouldn't happen if we were in power and if you give us power here's how we'll impose consequences on the president's lawbreaking." Have they outlined that in any real way?
A lot of people are mad at Schumer for saying this. But he's right. Democrats don't control a single branch of government and they can't pass anything. Only Republicans can rein in Trump because they control both chambers of Congress. Democrats have no cards to play here.
Schumer: "Republicans must -- if there was ever a time, they must step up to the plate. This is the time. And if they don't, they're gonna feel the heat from their constituents."

I haven’t seen any reporting on this yet but I have to imagine this is related to all the protests outside hotels where ICE agents are staying.

People are showing up outside hotels and banging drums and making loud noises all through the night. It has to be having an impact.
It’s hard to imagine better free advertising than this.

I will continue to complain about the democrats, actually.
Democratic Senator Jack Reed calls the Venezuela operation "well conceived and courageously executed."

Ahh yes the “we can’t do anything” excuse. Very motivating!

Do not trust anything the US government says about authoritarianism in other countries, regardless of who our president is.

Any time a presidential administration calls the leader of a non-nuclear power an authoritarian, tyrant, or dictator, it’s because the US government wants to steal the resources of that country. And yes, that is true of every single president.

You need to go outside. Putin is there. Go get him.
The goal of Putin via trump was to get Americans to believe we can’t trust ANY form of our government.

You’re doing Putin’s work with this post. And look how easy it was to capture your mind.

Who do you think brought up Venezuela in 2012 as a “national security concern”?
Suggesting Obama and Trump are equivalent on this subject obliterates any credibility you may have had.

You people criticize Democratic messaging all the time: by wearing keffiyehs and vandalizing university quads you were messaging that you reject American society on an almost cosmic level, which was stupid If you wanted to accomplish anything.

NYT, WaPo learned of the secret US raid on Venezuela soon before it was scheduled to begin but held off publishing what they had at the administration's request to avoid endangering US troops

A very long and important THREAD -

The real reason the US is invading Venezuela goes back to a deal Henry Kissinger made with Saudi Arabia in 1974.

And I'm going to explain why this is actually about the SURVIVAL of the US dollar itself.

Not drugs. Not terrorism. Not "democracy." 1/
