this is why i genuinely feel it's critical, before we can ever talk about human-centered design or any supposedly positive visions of tech, for all of us to make engineers and tech companies scared of us. if there are no stakes or consequences for malicious behavior, then all this shit is cheap talk
As many have pointed out, there's no reason for big tech to change its behavior because they correctly understand that they have nothing to fear from Democrats taking power

Speaking via translator, next man up describes his experience being pulled over by CPD and prevented from observing Border Patrol in Edgewater in December.

Agents called 911 several times and lied about him trying to ram their vehicle.

The abolition of ICE is now the bare minimum.

The execution of Renee Nicole Good lays bare the necessity of a full reckoning with the systems of violence and oppression.

These structures are beyond reform, they require revolution.

Abolish ICE is just the beginning
For Renee Nicole Good, we need a revolution.

Two queer women with a 6 year old in school today stopped to film ICE and for their bravery ICE agents murdered one before the other’s eyes. The grief in the survivor’s voice is a knife to the gut. Destroying people and their bonds is what ICE has always done.
NEWS: In a heartbreaking video, after ICE shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis, a woman who was in the same SUV cries out: “They killed my wife. I don’t know what to do."

“We stopped to videotape, and they shot her in the head,” the distraught woman sobs.

ICE killed a member of our community today. ICE showed up at my kid’s daycare today. ICE is bragging about the number of families they’ve torn apart in a matter of days, and promising that their campaign of terror isn’t done.

We should all sit with this ICE murder. Any one of us could be executed by ICE, and our government wouldn’t bat an eye. Instead they’d just lie about us to the world.

We’ve graduated from “abolish ICE is the moderate position” to “Nuremberg trials for the Trump regime and its Gestapo is the moderate position.”

The U.S. attack on Venezuela is a tragic farce.

The paper-thin excuse of “narco-terrorism” is meaningless, a facade that does nothing to forgive death and destruction.

The truth is that the U.S. itself is an increasingly authoritarian state with no moral standing.

Hard to process this attack on Venezuela. The greatest political lesson of my youth, one that was hammered home to us all over nearly twenty years, was that the U.S. should stop engaging in regime change and oil wars. And yet, here we are again.
