Local news yesterday unquestioningly reported that a judge had been arrested for harboring Tren de Aragua members. All of us watching thought the same thing -- these days, "Tren de Aragua" is just what the administration calls all Venezuelans. The Albq Journal gets it right.
They had come to El Paso from Washington for an immigration hearing. A federal magistrate in El Paso ruled April 14 that they could remain free on bail and set a court date for June. ICE apprehended them two days later at the airport on their way home, and they've been in custody in El Paso since.

I no longer take LEO actions as legit law enforcement at face value especially when they're masked. Odds are even - that the judge was using the Venezuelans as slave labor OR the couple intervened in an illegal detention and are protecting them from false accusations of gang membership. We'll see.
