I never understand why writers insist on making Captain America sound like a grandpa. Yeah, he’s from your grandpa’s (or great-grandfather’s) era, but he didn’t live through all those years. When he woke up, he’d still have the mindset of a man somewhere in his 20s.

A friend a mile away sends a Slack message: she was at the scene when masked men assaulted and abducted two people on the street. A plumber working on my pipes is distraught, and I find out that two of his employees were kidnapped that morning. A week later it happens again. An email arrives. Agents with guns have chased a teacher into the school where she works. They did not have a warrant. They dragged her away, ignoring her and her colleagues’ pleas to show proof of her documentation. That evening I stand a few feet from the parents of Rayito de Sol and listen to them describe, with anguish, how good Ms. Diana was to their children. What it is like to have strangers with guns traumatize your kids. For a teacher to hide a three-year-old child for fear they might be killed. How their relatives will no longer leave the house. I hear the pain and fury in their voices, and I wonder who will be next. Understand what it is to pray in Chicago. On September 19th, Reverend David Black, lead pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Chicago, was praying outside the ICE detention center in Broadview when a DHS agent shot him in the head with pepper balls. Pepper balls are never supposed to be fired at the head because they can seriously injure, or even kill. “We could hear them laughing as they were shooting us from the roof,” Black recalled. He is not the only member of the clergy ICE has assaulted. I worked in a local retail place that required us to personally greet every customer, ask if they needed anything, and check in with them every 10 minutes. All it did was annoy and creep out customers who wanted to browse in peace.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

Describe your plan of attack, build your dice pool, and try to kill it before it can kill you - and IT WILL KILL you.
IT WILL KILL YOU : a solo or duet mini game by DNGN CLUB GAMES Its the third act... You have a dice pool of d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, and a d20, plus an improvised melee weapon of your choice. The killer closes in. Each round, as they get more aggressive, describe a tool, weapon, ability, plan, or any other kind of leverage you use to survive. (You can use multiple if it's believable in the fiction.) Assign a dice size to each descriptive action to build your pool, then roll. If your highest single die shows a 4 or above, you are successful. Your action harms the killer in a location of your choice: EYES | 4 FINGERS | RIGHT LUNG | LEFT LEG FACE | SPINE | CRANIUM Any additional successful dice may be spent for one of the following LUCK effects. The cost of these effects increases by 1 additional die each time you use them: Regain a discarded die. Reroll any unspent dice in your pool. Ignore your next failed roll. Any die that rolls its maximum value grants 2 successes (or can be used for 2 LUCK effects), but is discarded permanently and cannot be regained. If NO dice in your roll are successful, the killer attacks you, maiming you as you discard a die of your choice. Once all your dice are gone, you are dead. How does it kill you? Make it messy. Once you have harmed all of the killer's target areas, they are finally killed and you barely escape. Dice spent this way return your pool. ROLL CREDITS. duet mode Another player takes on the role of the killer, infusing personality into their normally silent efforts to murder and maim. Each time the survivor discards a die, it is added to your DEAD POOL. Whenever the survivor spends dice on a LUCK effect, you may roll your DEAD POOL. If any of your dice roll higher than the survivor's highest roll in that action, they do not gain the benefit of that LUCK effect, but they still lose the dice they spent. If you roll doubles, the survivor discards a die permanently.

NEW: ICE is planning to build a shadow deportation network in Texas. A proposal outlines a 24/7 transport operation run by armed contractors—turning Texas into the logistical backbone of an industrialized deportation machine.

Early planning documents reviewed by WIRED describe a statewide transport grid designed for steady detainee transfers across Texas, with ICE estimating each trip to average 100 miles. Every county would have its own small, around-the-clock team of contractors collecting immigrants from local authorities deputized by ICE. It is a subtle transfer of the physical custody process into the hands of a private security firm—authorized to carry firearms and perform transport duties “in any and all local, county, state, and ICE locations.”
