Here's the full-circle scam

Ultra-wealthy PE's and bankers buy politicians who promise not to tax them

Politicians instead borrow from pension funds to pay for public infrastructure

Pension funds go insolvent and get stuck yield-chasing

Pension funds have to invest in funds managed by said PE's

Y'all don't ever let yourself be guilted into doing *any* work for an employer that laid you off. It's a business relationship that ended when they notified you. They figure out a few weeks later that they didn't understand some function of your job? Not your problem.

My Lords Reform would be

1 Cap the numbers at 50% that of the Commons, as in Australia
2 Single term of 10-15 years
3 As in Canada, each region has a set number of members. I’d give the devolved parliaments and English counties a say in appointing members for each region.
4 Exclusion of donors
A good question. I favour its complete reform, but at least to make it function as part of a democracy we need:
1. Term limits (I suggest 5 years, renewable once)
2. Members appointed by independent body, not PM
3. Cap on total number of members
4. Stop giving them silly titles, it’s embarrassing
Why is the House of Lords?

Web developers: Stop making pop-ups of any kind. I will never, ever, ever read, consider, or react to a pop-up of any kind, even if it's not an ad and it's related to the website I'm trying to use. Knee-jerk reaction to closing them. Stop fucking making them.

This is an insightful but deeply upsetting article about why everyone in the US feels poor, and why the current political situation emerges as a direct result.

We have employed a defamation lawyer specifically for this purpose and would love to help (and we do so on non-commercial terms). www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

"Republicans run the entire government but can't keep it open"

That's it. That's the whole story.
Yes. (And still getting "standoff" BS and "who will blink first" and "who will voters blame" from news.)

Trump and MAGA control the *entire* government. It's a simple fact:
- White House
- Senate
- House
- Scotus
- OMB (to the hilt)
- Every regulatory agency

They're in command. It's on them.
I do not understand why they cannot get the headlines right.

Just follow the gop playbook!

“Repubs control it all! The shutdown is on them!”

As nauseum.

Don’t lead with the nuance.

The level of impatience in modern politics is helping populists. Presumably related to social media. "I need tangible results now" is simply unrealistic. But I keep hearing it from people who should know better.

Oh god, it’s worse. This is Open Ai dictating to the studios they can “opt out” of OUTPUTS. This isn’t even about the training, as Open Ai thinks it’s all theirs to use for free.

The hubris of these thieves is just obscene. I can’t see them not getting sued for this, it’s just that ridiculous.

Here's what I don't get; how did absolutely no legacy media say "with the entire industry moving right, there's a clear market to win by being the 'left' option"?

Literally all of them said, "we're losing the right, we must move right to try to get them back" and then started losing their remainder

We are wilfully being put in danger by our major news broadcasters.
For 56 minutes Sky News and BBC News interrupted everything else and carried a Reform UK feed live, uninterrupted, unchallenged. The stream spluttered, froze, pixelated - dozens of times - still they stuck with it. FOR ONE HOUR.

This is an editorial choice. No other party gets this coverage. ~AA

it's so funny to see America's health insurance companies be like "look. If there's one thing we love it's denying you care. but we ran the numbers - and we cannot BELIEVE we're saying this - and it's cheaper for us to just pay for the vaccines than deal with you going to the ER."
Regardless of the disgraceful nonsense we will likely hear from this administration in the coming days on vaccine “recommendations,” Americas healthcare insurers issued a joint statement tonight saying coverage for Covid and flu shots will remain unchanged from prior years.

Speaks for itself.
