Hi everyone, I’m a reality show editor who also writes things for fun. You can find examples of my work in this thread. The first is a quick and deeply silly piece of flash fiction in the style of a Hollywood memoir:
ANNOUNCEMENT: So for the last few months i’ve been hard at work on a novel, and therefore don’t have anything new in the way of detective stories, or anything else.

But I wanted to put *something* out there, so this is a quick little 5 minute humor piece.

When I said last year that the average American MAGA supporter closely resembles a Russian vatnik in both mindset and ideology, I meant it seriously.

Excellent piece from @gelliottmorris.com on how your news diet affects your politics and how you view the Trump Regime. Those with a heavy diet of conservative media view Trump favorably, while those with a diet of non-conservative media view him unfavorably.

Compare and contrast how the media covered the Minnesota daycare story to how they covered the estimated $64B of fraud in Trump's PPP program
That whole “Minnesota fraud” scandal is a completely made up racist lie and the media is eating it up and presenting it as if it’s a genuine scandal. I’m going to lose my mind

Out of all the great things Martin Scorsese has done, championing the films of Powell and Pressburger and bringing them to a wider audience is right near the top.
It is one of the very best movies, and also responsible for one of my favorite pieces of film criticism

There's a rising faction of the legal academy that stays quiet when their MAGAdemic colleagues produce fraudulent psuedo-scholarship in service to the cruelest aspects of Trump's agenda ... then leap in to police the discourse when their progressive colleagues criticize those MAGAdemics too bluntly.

My whole life, advocating war has been fed to me as “the adult position,” akin to drinking your coffee black or reading the business section of the newspaper. Let’s be very clear — war is the childish nonsense of impulsive destructive idiots playing baby-brained video games with real human lives.

On X, a senior U.S. Justice Department official is promoting a post that praises colonization as “one of the greatest things that ever happened to the backwards parts of the world.”👇

In a study following 23 million people age 18-59 (pretty young) for 4 years…despite the fact that the ones who got the COVID vaccine were overall older and sicker at baseline, they not only had 74% lower risk of dying from COVID than the unvaccinated but 25% lower risk of dying from any other cause!

All of those people who claimed to be desperately worried about mental health at the start of the pandemic seem to no longer care about mental health.

It was obvious at that time that they did not care, and frankly, they never will.

That little dip in deaths by suicide was in 2020.

16 hours in, my guess this was all intended basically as a coup to put VP Delcy Rodriguez in power (likely without her knowledge but 🤷).

At least for democracy & human rights, that might be even worse than the "opening shots in a war" scenario.

All speculation, but let me explain:

personally I think if a story about an illegal war and kidnapping leaks to you should publish it.
NEW: Plans for secret U.S. raid to capture Maduro leaked to the Washington Post and New York Times before it happened, but both decided not to publish to protect U.S. troops - Semafor
