Recent research showed that a huge proportion (87%) of Brits rely on hanging wet clothes inside their homes – and they’re unknowingly causing serious issues.

A study by the University of Manchester found that drying a wet load of washing indoors can release two litres of water into your home.
The mould truth: Expert warns Brits of one common habit that brings damp into their homes
As winter returns, and households dry laundry indoors, new research suggests this is contributing to dangerous mould problems in the home

The BBC makes itself *extremely* hard to love with this stuff. I’ve worked in more than one small newsroom that’s discovered to its immense frustration that the country’s biggest news org has stolen its work with no credit whatsoever.
I guess it’s a compliment that the top story on BBC London’s TV/online output today is a direct lift of a month-old London Centric story? But once again the BBC is consistently the worst news outlet for actually remembering to credit others.

You might have ADHD if you’ve ever said to yourself, “Wow I really need this cup of coffee to function this morning” and then, not only somehow forget to actually drink it, but keep leaving it in random places all over the house. This repeats for hours and/or the rest of your life.

Good luck getting Blue and Green in today's connections if you're not a yank.
Though for what it's worth (nothing) my least favourite type of connections puzzle is "these words contain homophones for a particular category" and stuff like that. Less of that, please

*cough* that’s literally the divide between left and right *cough*
The biggest divide is not between “right” and “left." It’s between democracy and oligarchy. The billionaires who control our economy and democracy seek to divide us. They want us to turn on each other so we don't look up and see that they have all the wealth and power.

As always with those on the full dose of antitrans brain-addling, a reminder that when they say "gender ideology", they mean the existence of trans people, something increasingly well-documented across time & cultures, & celebrated with honours by the UK government.
This little transphobic rant by Hadley Freeman in the Sunday Times really shows how pathetic gender critical ideology is. They play victimhood every day from the national media, while childishly insulting the existence of trans and non-binary individuals, calling any criticism of that 'silencing'.

Dear the police: do you not feel *extremely silly* having to do this sort of thing? Or is it a nice cushy doss day, arresting quiet non-violent citizens for saying things, an easy alternative to dealing with hardened criminals?
As an older woman is arrested under the Terrorism Act for holding a cardboard sign, she's asked if she has anything to say.

Her response: "I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action."

Annoying thing is, there IS a shortcut. Allow companies to separate gas and electricity prices, instead of having them conflated
Households face higher energy bills.

No end to profiteering - £30bn last yr.
£4.4bn bills arrears.
128000 a year, including 110,000.pensioners die in fuel poverty.

Must remove all subsidies from bills, pay via general taxation.

Exclude gas produced electricity from general Ofgem pricing formula.
Energy minister says 'there's no shortcut' to bringing down bills - as price cap rise announced
The average annual energy bill will rise by 0.2% in January, despite wholesale costs falling.

I am currently, because I know how to enjoy a Saturday morning, writing some guidance for people on filling this consultation in. As I do several things are highly apparent. Before I go through them though I don't want this to put people off of filling it in. It is important to do so nonetheless. 1/
Government has today published its consultation into "earned settlement", the forward alone contains a hot mess of misrepresentation of the current system by the Home Secretary. I would strongly urge anyone affected by the current system to respond.
