Seattle, We Have a Base Ball Team! The Seattle Alkis and the Arrival of Competitive Base Ball in 1877
100 years before the Mariners played their first season, the Alkis gave Seattle fans their first taste of the base ball epidemic.

This year is the 150th year of competitive baseball in Seattle! I took a look back at Seattle and the surrounding areas in 1877, and got to know the team that started it all: the Alki Base Ball Club. They captured Seattle's hearts and we haven't been without baseball since.

This has been a really fun day for watching women do really cool sports things and I’m having a hard time mentally shifting, but I have to! (Except I’m 100% spending the afternoon/evening chattering to people about the women and the sports who don’t care lol)

The happenings in the US women's hockey game at the same time as a skater skating to "Selections from The Handmaid's Tale" feels uncomfortably symbolic.

The people I love the most in the Olympics are the people who have no chance of medaling and are just there to be there and then go out and have a great performance. That's the best.

I feel like when baseball players challenge a call, they should have to go to a Kiss and Cry to wait for the verdict. It might slow things down, but the drama!

It's very annoying when men watch 2 minutes of ice skating and have to twist themselves into contortions about how much they hate it, like, yes, I get it, you're very masculine, which is proved by how allergic you are to figure skating. Congrats.

I'm actually fine with an MLB salary cap if it comes with a cap on ticket prices at like $25 for the best seats and $5 for the worst, and free MLB tv with no blackouts. How will teams make money you ask? That is simply not my concern.

I love this! The highlight of the Olympics right here. And quite honestly, anyone who views sports (or life!) like that should be laughed at derisively.
Normalize laughing derisively in men's faces when they deserve it.

Random memory. After the Olympics that Tara Lipinski won my French teacher was talking about it and said he didn't like her because her smile was annoying. And in hindsight, that's extremely inappropriate! But on the list of inappropriate things that happened in that class, it's near the bottom 😬

NBC sure gets rid of stuff fast! I was going to go back and watch some of the ice dancing stuff I missed and the team competition and it's all gone 😭

I have accepted that there will be no snow this year. Bring on the crazy spring weather, sun to hail to pouring rain to pouring rain while it’s sunny to sunny with dark clouds to light, sprinkling rain. I love the weather whiplash. I’m ready.

I'm sorry, I know everyone loves dogs for some reason, but if there was a gigantic dog chasing me while I was in the OLYMPICS!!! I would lose my mind and flip out. Like, wtf is a dog doing there to begin with?!
