This year is the 150th year of competitive baseball in Seattle! I took a look back at Seattle and the surrounding areas in 1877, and got to know the team that started it all: the Alki Base Ball Club. They captured Seattle's hearts and we haven't been without baseball since.
Seattle, We Have a Base Ball Team! The Seattle Alkis and the Arrival of Competitive Base Ball in 1877
100 years before the Mariners played their first season, the Alkis gave Seattle fans their first taste of the base ball epidemic.

The Mariners are going to announce their list of players who have been secretly mortally wounded and injured all winter during the trophy presentation tomorrow, aren’t they?

Here’s one I saw in Vendor’s Row, between T-Mobile Park and Lumen Field, last week during FanFest.

I hope we find a more permanent way to mark these spots, because our neighbors deserve to be remembered.

This should never have been allowed to happen. We should all be deeply ashamed.

Woot! Woot! First ballot drop is in super majority territory! (Only need simply majority to pass.) Bodes well!

I generally have no reaction to the word moist, but I just read an article that described Red Faber As a ”moist-ball hurler” and the ick it gave me

Total turnout in Puyallup by Monday morning was less than the number of votes I received just myself in November.

Pierce County folks have a little less than 3 hours left to find a drop box.

Boy if you don't get your ass out there and vote for them school levies
Something cool about voting in local elections that don't also have state-wide or federal races on the ballot is that, proportionally, your vote counts more because turnout is lower. Easy way for you to grab and wield power! Lots of school levies on ballots around the state today. Go vote!

I feel like if I ever tried to do a figure skating jump the blades of my skates would get caught on each other and I'd crash on the ice. Never mind the quads, I'm just really impressed they're able to jump and do any number of rotations, and not do that 😂

The US-Canada hockey rivalry isn't fun if it's one-sided 😬

USA hockey out there doing their best work to avenge the Mariner's loss to Canada.

I loved Tara and Johny yelling "Do it! Do it! Do it!" during that routine 😂

Both not surprised and ascending to a new level of rage.
Finding out that top execs from both LifeTouch and Chuck E. Cheese are in the Epstein files has pissed me off in a way that I didn’t think was still possible.

I just want to watch ice skating all day and not do anything else.

This is so messy I can't help but love it. It's also a really great example of how public grand gestures only ever work in movies and in books (and never for cheating, either). Not for real life!! And so much worse than public proposals, and those are pretty bad already.
new most bizarre moment of the Olympics just dropped

Norwegian biathlete wins bronze medal, then, totally unprompted, reveal he cheated on his GF, she left him, and he wants to apologize publicly hoping she takes him back

'Tis Election Day! And one more Election Day event to pass the levies and I really, really hope they pass today! Because they'll keep running them this year if they don't, but it's so much easier to just pass them the first time and save me, personally, from doing more work on them!

Basically all I want to do is write things and have people tell me it’s good, and make food and have people tell me it’s good. I’m a simple girl.

I thought I shared these yesterday, but I guess I didn’t so I wish to share them now because they were
perfection. Chocolate covered raspberry ice cream footballs. I didn’t have a recipe for the ice cream, just winged it, and it worked out spectacularly.

Gong to have the leftover slow cooked pork sandwiches for dinner tonight and I feel like eating two hours earlier than normal is fine because then there will be time to digest enough to have another sandwich before bed and that‘s a great idea actually.

All ice dancing is fun, but when a team is really really really good it's transcendent.

Surya was absolutely incredible but it was banned in 1976 after American Terry Kubicka did it at the Olympics in 1976. And though it's been unbanned, it's not considered a jump and is not evaluated as such. Malinin isn't racking up points on it. deadspin.com/no-the-backf...

Is it too late for me to become an Olympic ice dancer? It looks like a really fun thing to be good at.
