This year is the 150th year of competitive baseball in Seattle! I took a look back at Seattle and the surrounding areas in 1877, and got to know the team that started it all: the Alki Base Ball Club. They captured Seattle's hearts and we haven't been without baseball since.

100 years before the Mariners played their first season, the Alkis gave Seattle fans their first taste of the base ball epidemic.

Got some VERY conflicting responses to this 😂 Which is exactly why I need to read it. I want a strong opinion on it!
I’ve never read Wuthering Heights, but all this discourse about it is making me think I should.

Snow is, for the first time this winter, legitimately in the #Seattle forecast. But sorry to say for snow fans, it's not the most exciting snow forecast we could bring you.

I really need to bleach part of my hair more, but I’ve seen too many videos of people bleaching their hair for too long and having it just break so I’m going to just live with it like this. Bleach is scary. It’s so crazy they just let you do this at home without adult supervision.

I’m not normally a cookie decorator because it‘s so much time and detail work that I’m not good at and don’t like, but for some reason I thought, why not spend all day decorating cookies, and I think I did okay!

Strawberry sugar cookies and strawberry icing. They’re pretty okay for cookies!

Love to remember John Marzano! I talked about him a bit on the @toloveamariner.bsky.social podcast (online if you haven’t!). He definitely makes the list of my all-time favorite Mariners. The post below has video of him punching Paul O’Neill, which is a great moment in baseball history.
Born February 14, 1963, today would have been John Marzano's 63rd birthday. Born in South Philly, he starred at Temple University and for 1984 Team USA. He was a dependable backup catcher for a decade.

I am once again thinking about dying my hair nonhuman color(s). It’s just so much work. Multistep work. But I am bored of my regular hair and it’s a long weekend.

I feel a piece of my soul die every time someone remodels one of the amazing 1920s craftsmans around here into a monument to gray. Gray everything, including replacing original floors with those wide plank fake wood. It’s so awful.

When I’m the dictator of America it will be a crime to rearrange the grocery store.

Perfect example of the double standard. If you don’t bone, you’re a prude. If you do, you’re fueling a “radioactive hybrid terror-pig boom.“

I feel bad about throwing away sourdough discard so I’ve been finding ways to use it. We did pizza crust with it and that got rave reviews and now I’m making crackers with it. And the crackers are great, it’s just that I’ve never felt more like a trad wife making sourdough discard crackers 😭

Looking up information on Winter Cup and there's something so funny to me about the competition being streamed live for free, but you have to pay to watch podium training. I mean, I guess that makes sense, get money from the real sickos and try to draw the casuals in for free, but it's funny.

I’ve thrown myself into stuff at the kids’ school this year because I care, and as a distraction from *everything*. The election was huge, and we’ve just finished a fundraiser that went better than expected. It’s just really affirming to know there are still wins to be won out there, big and small.

Exactly one month until my fantasy draft begins. Gotta start researching and preparing. Lotta pressure when you're the defending champion.

The “Notable Alumni” section of my high school’s Wikipedia page lists 3 people, none of them what I’d consider “famous”, so I suppose there’s still a shot for me to become the famous person to go to my high school.
