I suggest that we start using the phrase "Mr. Beast and the CEO of Salesforce will be there too." as shorthand to explain how little we want to be at any given terrible event.

Today I passed a billboard w/ an ai-ass nativity scene beneath a giant cosmic Jesus and big text asking "Do You Love The Man As Much As The Baby?" and I choked on the coke zero I was drinking while driving and I stifled a cough and the bubbles foamed up through my nasal passages. I felt so present.

Charlotte-Mecklebburg Schools, according to reports, saw 15% of its students absent today amid Border Patrol operations in Charlotte. If that percentage of 15% happens Tuesday in Wake County due to the Border Patrol coming to Raleigh, 24.000 students could be absent from school. #nced #ncpol #wcpss

spoke with the executive director of my local food bank today and got this really incredible line: "if you donate 1 can of green beans, we can give away 1 can of green beans. but if you donate a dollar, we can give away 6 cans of green beans"

The health condition they're trying to hide is that the gold filigree is actually growing on his body, that's where it all comes from. It's a side effect of the necrosis from the interdimensional parasite that is trying to enter this world through him

heads up to anyone who holds trans kids near: amy harmon from the nyt is searching for and having a hard time finding people to interview to find out exactly what trans kids are doing when their care is limited or cut off, and for purposes of community safety, please shut the fuck up around her.

We should all encourage our places of worship to put a community fridge in their yards if they can. A cheap shed with a refrigerator in it can make all the difference.
This one was a piece my mother's ministry, so it's close to my heart.

I said this in the comments, but if you want guidance on how to feed people at scale, look to India. The Golden Temple feeds over 100,000 people for free every day and Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya dargah serves thousands. Few low-cost foods scale better than dal with rice.
Lots of lovely folks want to cook for neighbors, fill community fridges during SNAP shutdown but are intimidated. A mutual aid group in Flatbush, Brooklyn has been feeding 80+ people every single week for a year and a half or so now. Nobody is born knowing how to cook for 80, so here's our guide!

With Virginia's GOP governor planning to use state money to continue SNAP food benefits next month, I asked @ncgovernor.bsky.social and #ncga leaders if they're considering a similar approach: www.wunc.org/politics/202... #ncpol
Virginia will use state funding to keep SNAP running, but NC leaders aren't proposing that
While Virginia’s Republican governor announced plans this week to continue SNAP benefits in November using state funding, North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein doesn’t have the power to make a similar move.
