i think american life would improve significantly and quickly if society was more encouraging of people to have Hobbies. the most perfect and serene state of mind that exists is when one is Doing one's Little Things

Material as fresh as american produce x
my main problem with the "british food is bad" jokes are that it's old and really dated material. it's not really true, but more importantly, it's hack
'British food is bad' has been untrue for like a generation and a half at this point but really sticks around in the U.S. U.S. supermarkets are inferior to their U.K. counterparts!

I'm always bleating on about Play for Today & similar anthology formats & how important they are for television- so this is a public service announcement that there are 13 archive episodes of Screen Two currently on iPlayer:

your mileage may vary but my experience on here improved pretty noticeably when I stopped offering explanations to people whose questions sought conflict rather than answers

You know I actually think kabocha is my favourite squash. I've previously said acorn but I'm updating the record.

Just started reading a new novel and could immediately tell the author was a right cunt. Google image-searched him and yep that's a cunt.

This was definitely not even true in twitter's heyday and *certainly* isn't true now.
If there is an argument then this is the argument. But lol I can’t find where this obviously false stat is coming from. And if the government does believe more than half the families in the UK are using it as their primary news source then woah maybe time to up the scrutiny of it!

CMAT. She'd absolutely read me for filth I fear.
Raises an interesting question though. Who would you least rather have a break up song written about you by? Lily Allen, CMAT or Chappel Roan.

Ah, that's a shame, I went to a gig here once. Atlas Sound, I think, possibly.

Thoughts and prayers with those of you back at work today.

I am on sabbatical leave for Q1 and am beginning the long slow process of downshifting and regulating my nervous system. It's difficult! Every few minutes it spikes at me "FIND A WAY TO BE PRODUCTIVE" or "CHECK EMAILS".

Colm Tóibin: "A gamechanging piece of writing."

Olivia Laing: "I inhaled it."

Misread these creme eggs (3rd January too early for easter eggs btw) as saying "WHITE EGG - SAME GOD" and was momentarily stopped in my tracks.

If I was ever attacked by an alien in “alien” I’d simply close my mouth and not be infected with an egg. Seems pretty simple tbh.

I've just remembered I had a dream last night where I looked in a mirror at my back and it was covered in coarse ginger hair and there was a huge grey bracket fungus growing out of it. What am I becoming?
