There's lots of rhetoric about how technology "enables" creativity, how new technology leads to new kinds of art, but does anyone know of any good writings on how technology can also constrain and limit creativity?

What in the Gestapo is going on in Grand Rapids?

Watch this activist get arrested *mid-interview* for speaking out against U.S. action in Venezuela.

Funny to think that in a world not too different from our own, the US could be racing against China to build the most solar & wind power instead of violently and desperately grasping at the last vestiges of fossil fuels

This thread is keeping track of misinformation circulating about the US' attack on Venezuela. A must read!
THREAD: I'll fact-check all the viral misinformation about the US military operation in Venezuela in this thread

This image, purporting to show the US military arresting Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, is AI-generated.

According to Google's SynthID detector, it was created using Google AI.

I was 14 when the US invaded Iraq. I can’t overstate how dumb 14 year olds are in general, but it still was clear that the stated reasons were fake and the whole thing would be a disaster. I was confused why so many people were ignoring the obvious.

Anyway, shoutout to the 14 year olds of today.

Our cats are hilariously bad at using the litter box. One is so neurotic about burying his poops that the litter flies everywhere. The other one inexplicably paws at the wall instead of the litter so his giant stinky poops go uncovered but our wall gets big lovely scratch marks instead

New year new music!!

Finally posting excerpts from the opera workshop in December! Super excited to start sharing this stuff.

This is when our protagonist Frem, a golem builder from the Underground, first meets Gemini, an Overlander businesswoman. There is immediate intrigue and maybe romance???

Teachers, I know you're probably overworked and that your teaching is an ongoing compromise between your best intentions and reality. But what are your non-negotiables, your basic principles of teaching that you will not compromise on?

Can you solve a puzzle without knowing the rules?
For the first week of January, I'm publicly sharing the experimental beta of Scriddle - a daily puzzle where the rules are kept secret. I'd love to know how many guesses it took you to solve it.
