Shortbread, crab rangoon, and cheese sticks yesterday, today French silk pie and prep-cooking the chicken! As soon as both my eyes are open. Meh.

Box of Walker's shortbread: $4.67 for a little over 5oz of shortbread.

Double batch of homemade shortbread: $10.99 for ??? of shortbread. But probably more than 10oz.

Granted, this requires that you have the equipment and energy to make the shortbread, but since I do, by Grabthar's hammer etc.
Note to self: Next time you want to make a double batch of shortbread, USE THE DAMN STAND MIXER, THAT'S WHAT IT'S THERE FOR.

So an odd thing here is that if you say "an unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume" your point is to communicate "it is not really Batman" but the problem is that the real Batman, within the fiction of the comic book "Batman", is also, literally, an unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume
An unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume angrily confronted Santa Clara city officials during a joint meeting of the City Council, city authorities, and the Santa Clara Stadium Authority on Monday, using his public comment to condemn the city’s stance on cooperation with ICE.

Okay troublemakers, punks, antifa supervillains, and anyone who just enjoys being a petty little shitbird while they fuck up the algorithm of a massive media corp. Here's your assignment for the weekend. Get on it and spread the word.

Him: *doing some dishes* Boy I wish we hadn't thrown away the last of the plates [that were under the splash of toilet water when it leaked] from last time.

Me: *pulling out paper plates, bowls, little sauce bowls, plasticware* Et voila. Your wife is a genius.

(Yeah, I stocked up for the storms.)

I cannot stress enough to people who are not from Minneapolis that the news you have seen in the past week about things calming, and messaging from our electeds at *every level higher than City Council* that local agencies will protect us... That's all fucking LIES.
Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt needs to stop assisting ICE. It’s very clear that the sheriff’s department has been harassing, intimidating, arresting and coming out in force to assist ICE. They have been using force against neighbors who are working to protect our immigrant neighbors. 2/

My take: not EVERYONE w/ money & power is a pedophile, in the sense of having a compulsive attraction to minors, but MANY people w/ money & power become utterly desensitized, to the point of sociopathy. They need greater & greater stimuli to feel anything, AND they don't see other people as people.

*picks up phone* Let’s see, what’s today’s discourse?

*reads a couple posts about how people need opsec for blowing whistles*

And that’s enough internet for today!

I think I've decided I'm just too tired to be surprised by any Epstein news anymore. There are only 500 rich people in the world and they all know and enable each other and they are goddamn exhausting.

Okay, I'm still annoyed about the Cowboy Bebop live action show. Specifically that it got cancelled.

Five classes I took in college:
Japanese
Gender and Sexuality in History (I think that was the name?)
Technique and Theory of Anthropology
Tudor-Stuart England
Primatology
Never mind the jobs you’ve had, tell me five classes you took in university.

Intro to Linguistics
Human Genetics
Astronomy 101
Japanese 202
Intro to Stage Costuming (twice)

Genuinely surprised I remembered five at my age.
Never mind the jobs you’ve had, tell me five classes you took in university.

Calculus
Differential Equations
Linear Algebra
Oceans and Man
Goddess in Literature

It was the 70s.

It makes you sound crazy to say this out loud, but it's becoming increasingly clear that the United States government has been effectively toppled by a group of overt pedophiles

Hey yall. As you've seen here - unfortunately a large portion of the ivy road team was laid off today, myself included. We're all looking for work! Gonna do a quick thread about those who were laid off today and why you should hire them:
While we've gotten affirming feedback on Engine Angel, pitching unfortunately hasn't been successful. As a result, we've had to make the hard decision to lay off five team members. Each of these devs are incredible: if you have a place on your team, or know someone hiring, please keep them in mind!⬇

A very significant vote. The $75 billion can be taken away; this marks a clear vote by the Democratic caucus to do so.
👀 Every Senate Democrat + Collins and Murkowski just voted for the Bernie Sanders amendment to repeal the $75 billion in additional ICE funding under Trump’s “big beautiful bill.” The measure failed 49-51.

A lot of people predicted, based on his past actions & stated beliefs, that Trump would go full Hitler if nobody stopped him. We were called hysterical and told to calm down.
BIG news from @bloomberg.com, which confirms that ICE has gone ahead and *purchased* multiple commercial warehouses with the aim of converting them into mass detention camps.

This is likely to be the big detention story of 2026 — literal warehousing of people.

The problem with phishing me with a "you can download your tax statements here just enter your sensitive information" is that they put "Your 1099 form" on the email and I'm all "Okay first of all I don't need to file one and second of all you forgot the designator. 1099-MISC? 1099-NEC? 1099-K?"

The biggest problem with going back to being a writer and working on new projects and digging up old projects is now I'm sitting here with decision paralysis going "What the hell do I work on now??"

(Apart from day job, which is being recalcitrant again.)

It's hard to grasp how large this grouper is until you see it in comparison to the ship's toilet on the left.

This appears to be an Atlantic goliath grouper or 'itajara' (Epinephelus itajara). They can reach 800 lbs (350 kg) & 8 feet long (2.5 m)

Let's talk about these gentle giants.
