There aren't "two sides" re: trans healthcare.

Our healthcare isn't controversial in any medical sense and anybody who thinks *this* hasn't read the science, full stop.

There's: Should trans people get to live vs. should we not. The bigotry is the *point* of them hounding our healthcare ...
I note how the moral panic type journalism that's so predominant right now — conclusions in search of evidence ('the transes have gone to far') — is often rooted in fear of some future wherein stuff gets worse ...

This fixation on some false future is a way these folks avoid engaging the present.

In the campaign the pattern was that there was a fake, imaginary Trump the media created, and the more the real incompetent Trump faltered the more the fake competent Trump was inserted into stories, analysis etc bsky.app/profile/lilb...
Is, "Too big to ignore," possible at this point? His senility got too big to ignore when he had a mental breakdown during his 2024 campaign. Most media outlets ignored it.

Having $800M in your investment account vs $400M doesn't change your life at all, but having a labor market where your underlings are desperate to cling to jobs vs one where they can walk across the street and get a better offer makes a huge difference in the day to day reality of the very wealthy

The problem with elite political analysis is that it actually centers entirely around contempt for voters as stupid, but misconceives “stupid” as meaning “having no beliefs and only caring about how many cheeseburgers they can jam in their fat gobs.”

Even stupid people have beliefs and ideas!
See the problem with ALL of this is that most voters are simply STUPID and *every* election is basically won on "vibes;" but if you actually SAY that out loud in the aftermath you're going to make stupid people even more resentful so you have to at least pretend "Oh yeah 'affordability' sure."
Trump did not run on a concrete affordability platform. If anything Harris focused on the issue far more. I know this has become a thing people say, but it’s a retcon to paper over the uncomfortable reality that 2024 makes no sense according to conventional wisdom about how to win elections.

I will remind people on this website (not James, I suspect he knows) for what seems like the billionth time that Joseph Goebbels' PhD was in theater.
there is not any particularly strong evidence that study of the humanities make people good people. the elites of many brutal empires were extremely well-read!

it is actually kind of bananas how unitary executive theorists have taken a straightforward clause requiring the president to "faithfully execute the laws" and transformed it into a grant for the exercise of limitless unenumerated power.
The Take Care Clause was a byproduct of the lessons learned from the Glorious Revolution that the executive should not be able to dispense with the law promulgated by the legislature. It was not a constitutional provision to empower the executive branch— but to constrain it!

The practical effect of overturning Humphrey’s will be that Republican presidents can stack the formerly independent agencies with their copartisans and SCOTUS will be cool with everything they do but when a Dem POTUS does the same Roberts et al will declare all those agencies’ actions unlawful.
In a memo John Roberts wrote just 4 yrs out of law school, he said the “time may be ripe to reconsider the existence” of independent agencies & bring them back into the executive branch. Now he’s poised to end what he has long called “a constitutional anomaly.”

By the way this is why I know they’re lying when they say they knew who was on the boats and they’re all on a military list. The US military had somehow built a dossier on Robert Sanchez, the boat pilot living in a cinderblock house and earning $100 a month? He was next on the kill list after Osama?
Everyone seems to have forgotten but the AP actually went to Venezuela and found some of these men. They aren’t terminator-like cartel warriors, ready to give their life to ship kilos. They’re random dudes from small towns - bus drivers, fishermen - recruited for a payday. apnews.com/article/trum...
Trump has accused boat crews of being narco-terrorists. The truth, AP found, is more nuanced
One was a fisherman struggling to eke out a living on $100 a month. Another was a career criminal. A third was a former military cadet.

Yes, the entire murderous campaign is premised on the GOP pretending we live in some kind of Breaking Bad Extended Universe where drug cartels are peer-state enemies with fleets, Air Forces, and maniacally dedicated soldiers who will continue “their mission” after being blown to bits in the ocean.
He might have been signaling the reverse-vampires, or the reptiloid mothership or something.
