I know many things are awful but here is one genuinely useful and helpful thing you can do. No matter their party, your representative needs to hear that trans people and our families are not alone and this bill is an unjustifiable and extreme threat to criminalize the health care we need to live.
Tomorrow, the House of Representatives will vote on a bill that bans gender-affirming medical care for any transgender person under 18, and threatens any medical professional providing this care to youth with 10 years in prison.

Tell Congress to protect trans youth and vote NO.
Protect Trans Care Now
As wave after wave of extreme measures to criminalize and strip trans people of rights and safety continue, tell Congress to act.

You keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.

I know more people who quit smoking so they didn’t have to smoke outside in the cold than people who quit going to bars so they could smoke.
I still remember the night they banned smoking inside NYC bars and restaurants. So many articles claiming it would be the end of NYC nightlife.

It was 2003.

Things can change. Faster than you might think.
I lived thru the end of public smoking. Early in my career I presented to city councils who were smoking, in front of audiences who were smoking.

Smoking in restaurants, airplanes, hospitals…

All of that seems insane now, but it was very controversial when we DID change it.

We CAN change things.

I do not want Gaston backstory, I do not need Gaston backstory, I reject Gaston backstory

he is a fully formed oaf, consuming eggs by the dozen in one of the greatest villain songs ever written, and that is all we need of him

Not sure there’s any other writer out there who can combine lines like “This is how we should want to be, constantly aware of the sacredness of each other” and “Reds Traveler, the communist tribute to Blues Traveler” into one essay, and that’s only scratching the surface of why you should read this.

Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.

Rob Reiner: I'm going to make a coming of age drama, a fantasy adventure story, a romantic comedy, a psychological horror and then a courtroom drama.

Us: That sounds-

"we have to keep them away from the children" why? because children aren't inherently bigoted and you need time to plant fear and disgust in their brain?

the problem for transphobes is that at this point nearly everyone has met or at least interacted with a trans person and figured out that they're just people trying to live their lives. this is why they want to ban trans people from existing in public at all costs
11% of Britons say they feel 'very negatively' about trans people which just highlights how much this is a top-down hate project with around 95% of the media hating trans people and a high percentage of MPs.
Hello. I’m a “same-sex attracted person” (loathe that description of my sexuality) & I support Trans rights, like the majority of female “same sex attracted people”.

I'm seeing a lot of "Luigi Mangione might be innocent" takes and I just want to remind you that legally, he IS innocent. Literally every person charged with a crime is legally innocent until and unless a judge or jury finds them guilty. It's not that they MIGHT be innocent. They simply are.

I feel this deeply. But, on the other side of the leger, I think that the large cohort of trans people with 5-15 years of life as an openly trans person is one of our greatest strengths in this moment.

We had a taste of something better and we're not giving it up easily.
man, the collective grief from older trans people at the violent death of the world we briefly hoped was coming, a world in which trans children would be recognised, loved, and helped...

yeah.
