I've heard directly from hundreds of children at Dilley. One young girl who shared her story with me grew up in the United States and her stepfather is a U.S. citizen. She said that the guards are mean to her, she is afraid, and that she is worried she will die in detention.

One thing I did to help me stop using ableist slurs against mental health and cognitive disabilities was to set up my autocorrect to correct them to words that are not ableist like “silly” and “ridiculous.” It’s been a huge help in dramatically reducing the amount I use them even when not typing.
Basically anytime you find yourself looking for a synonym for "stupid:"
1. You're probably about to grab an ableist slur, and
2. You should instead find a word that's more precise.
Do you mean ridiculous? Shallow? Specious? Absurd? Careless? Inconsistent? Obvious? Cliched? Watered down?

I used "smooth-brained" as a dig until a father of a boy with lissencephaly -- the medical term for the condition -- wrote me an incredibly patient note to explain what his son had to deal with.
This phrase is a gratuitous insult to parents and children who are already suffering. Don't use it.

The thing about kids asking about gay people is that most kids, when left to their own devices, will be more confused by anyone making rules that only certain people can kiss or get married than they will be by random people of various genders kissing or getting married.

I have yet to see any evidence that there is a market for AI-generated books outside of people being tricked into thinking they are not AI-generated books. AKA, it is a project of scamming and deceiving people, and really should be treated as fraud

I hope folks grasp the fascistic resentment underpinning this shit, and the fact that there is nothing these AI robber barons would like more than to automate human creativity because they resent it and wish to devalue, own, and control it and us.
