You can tell what days I'm working my day job and which ones I have off based on how many threads I post. When I'm at the cheese shop, all I think about is cheese. No room for anything else in my head.

I don't say this enough but I think it all the time: a lot of my early success in webcomics was luck! And even the stuff that wasn't luck relied on systems that aren't there anymore. (RIP webrings and google reader.) So I very openly tell people that my strategy only works with a time machine.

There is a genre of advice that I refer to as "how to win the lottery advice." People who lucked out love to pretend that it wasn't luck, it was their intelligence and strategy, and that is something that can be replicated by doing this or that (and they're almost always selling a "course.")

Authors are constantly telling people how they made it! It's just that it takes a LOT of hard work and *patience* but people like this didn't wanna hear that advice. They think there's some kind of secret code or magic words that'll let you skip all that.

I do not understand why every sci-fi show assumes mobile phones and computer monitors will be clear in the future. What purpose would this serve? This sounds annoying as hell. No privacy ever. Everybody can see you sexting and checking your medical records. Hope I die before this gets invented.

No more alive or dead than anyone else's past self. Everyone changes and evolves over time. To me, changing my sex has been like changing careers. I'm still the same person. I just no longer have to wear the old uniform.
How do you explain what happened to your past self once you transitioned?
