I feel this way about pretty much all vaccine-preventable infectious diseases. You shouldn't be allowed to dump cyanide into municipal drinking water and you shouldn't be allowed to recreationally spread viruses around shared public spaces.

I feel this way about pretty much all vaccine-preventable infectious diseases. You shouldn't be allowed to dump cyanide into municipal drinking water and you shouldn't be allowed to recreationally spread viruses around shared public spaces.
In a desperate attempt to not yuck someone's yum, I've muted any mention of Wuthering Heights or Emily Brontë. I get that folks like it and I don't want to ruin that for anyone, but I also do not want to see any of it 🙈

i think nominating Gavin Newsom will lose the White House again for Democrats. The party's left flank will stay home again because he's an empty corporate shell. The age of Democrats punching left to appeal to the center is over and it's now a matter of if the party as a whole realizes that or not.

Wrote a rather long and scathing email to my kiddo's school. This whole situation arose from them being hit in the head with a volleyball during gym class.
When they went to their teacher to ask to go to the nurse, the teacher TOLD THEM "NO, GET A DRINK OF WATER AND SIT DOWN."

Two ER visits in two days for the kiddo. One ER basically said kiddo was "fine" and had no concussion, despite having a lot of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. Different ER (we are lucky enough to live that close to two hospitals) said YES, CONCUSSION, LOTS OF REST.
I'm tired, y'all.

Organ procurement, with few exceptions like skin and cornea, requires that the body be either alive-via brain death-or just-dead—via circulatory death. It is plausible that some Palestinian prisoners' torture led to brain death. It is also possible their torturers felt no need to wait. Palestinian witnesses have reported that some prisoners were alive at the time they were taken for organ extraction. In one batch of bodies, the organs removed were those commonly transplanted: heart, liver, lungs. The transplant surgeon waits for a person to die; the soldier can't. The settler surgeon wields his mastery over the body to serve the state. Here, the surgeon acts as-is—a soldier.
