Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

"Are you looking for a specific make and model?"

"I'd be happy to help. What topic are you working on?"
Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

That’s such a unique idea. I would have never thought of that.

Every instance of "AI democratizes the arts, you're classist and ableist and a gatekeeper for trying to stop it" is a slap in the face to the literally centuries of poor, disabled people making art on the margins and a crass lie in service of a machine that strips down and regurgitates dreams

I mean, I wasn't the BIGGEST of Pinterest users, but blech. Just blech.
Pinterest CEO says in layoff email: "We’re doubling down on an AI-forward approach – prioritizing AI-focused roles, teams, and ways of working"

So it's time for me to move to another platform to save images

I mean, sure, it'd be nice if everyone could hire and afford an editor, but even if you CAN, you have to be able to edit your own book, too--and editing POV is a huge challenge. Let's see if we can make it a little less daunting together!

I just found out HBO is making a Baldur's Gate & it will be a "continuation" of Baldur's Gate 3. Just... just no. BG3 was good. It was fun. It was so enjoyable. I'm writing fanfic as I type this. But just please, different characters, new stories. Set it Baldur's Gate, sure, but stop rehashing 😭

Hideous licensing agreement from Red Ogre Review, but what really jumps out at me is the moral rights waiver
Red Ogre (@ogre.red) gets rights to your work upon *submission*.

And those rights are ridiculous. They can change your work, not credit you, use your work for advertising, or put it in an anthology.

Don't submit to this one, folks.

My poets especially, this 🧵 might be both of interest and warning.
apologies for lack of alt text but i am yoo tired to type all this again

@ogre.red thinks terms if service are bullshit and licensing for poetry is unimportant because "who would steal a poem"

my advice would be to avoid doing business with this person

Hear! Hear!
Self-publishing IS publishing.
It's not a last resort.
It's not shameful.

Just because industries set on controlling the narrative of society deign not to publish a story doesn't mean it is any less valid, interesting, or vital than anything else.
I still see people saying "self-published" like it's a dirty word. Something you should only admit to with shuffled feet and muttered shame. Something Less Than, a last resort, a sign of failure. And to those people I say...
a man in a knight 's armor is sitting on a rock with a quote .

This whole “baby box movement” is a PR stunt to try to shift social attitudes in the direction of the idea that relinquishment is an alternative to abortion.

It’s intended as a place where antiabortion zealots and pro-adoption liberals can find common ground. 🥚
we have NO FUCKING IDEA why this baby was left in this box, because baby boxes are designed to eliminate all possibility of oversight, documentation, and accountability.

You want domestic trafficking of infants for sale? Here is your pipeline for that. 🥚

Amazon is again trying to shove AI down our throats. I mean, they're all doing it, but it's amazing the audacity that the 'Zon has after such a horrific failure.
Amazon is going to use AI for dubbing...again

so fucking stupid and short sighted. Adobe going all in on an AI system both worse and more expensive than OpenAi, a company that operates at a steep loss any time it is used, makes absolutely no sense
