After dealing with a lot of Complicated Feelings, a major emotional and energetic downswing, and some other stuff, I finally started into the next round of edits and revisions for BYMMS tonight. Here's hoping I can keep the momentum going and continue tomorrow, and the day after, etc.

Off the top of my head, I enjoy the opening of basically anything I've read of Seanan McGuire/Mira Grant. Unbreakable by Mira Grant had a good opening and was the first thing I thought of for this question.

I also loved the opening of The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker. ♥

Yes, I'll keep reading anyway. I have a hard time DNFing books early, I usually have to make it at least halfway through before I'll consider it. I have a hard time DNFing books in general, but I'm trying to be more willing to, because I have SO many books to read and not enough time.

I don't think I really have any particular types of openings/beginnings I like or dislike, to be honest. I'm pretty open to trying any of them! However the book opens, the author must've had a reason for doing it that way, right? I'm along for the ride either way.

I think I got them all. My dad was military and then I moved around a lot after I left home due to one circumstance or another.

I finished my first "nice" piece of art for the year, but I'm going to sit on it and revisit it tomorrow to see if there is anything I want to touch up or add. I'm pretty happy with it, though.

Despite Kickstarter more recently saying they "support adult projects" it seems that Stripe is taking down projects way more liberally then they used to.

We've been slowly cleaning the entire apartment since the new year started and I am feeling so good about it, even if the work is unpleasant in the moment. Just got my desk back in order and looking at it makes me happyyy.
