I estimate around half of the trans people I know IRL are unemployed or underemployed. Probably a solid quarter of the trans people I know do subsistence sex work.

We are in crisis, and we're being utterly failed by this country's media and political establishment. Why is this not the narrative?

Editors: by "letting" I mean "commissioning" — publish trans writers, pay them for this kind of deeply impactful and emotionally challenging work, and anticipate that you'll need to protect them from the resulting online backlash.

If that takes too much courage, why are you even here?

It's really striking, how zero fucks about balance are given by the British media when comes to possibly letting a single trans person discuss how shit our lives are now
Nearly a year into many trans people in the UK being forced to use disabled toilets or asked to work from home pending legal advice and stuff and I haven't seen a single "Izzy's boss told her she has to use a disabled toilet, here's how she feels about it" piece in the papers.

Cis journos who fancy themselves our allies - one of the best things you could do right now is push some human interest stories about trans people like this into the mainstream.

Lots of them are panicking that AI uptake isn't fast enough and they might run out of momentum to do the sweep they are attempting to do on society.

This isn't about AI, it's about the window in which they have permission to remould society.

Microsoft CEO warns that we must 'do something useful' with AI or they'll lose 'social permission' to burn electricity on it
Workers should learn AI skills and companies should use it because it's a "cognitive amplifier," claims Satya Nadella.

I’ve said this before, but Leveson 2 needs to involve guillotines
Sharing from a friend, a passage from the Leveson Inquiry regarding the British actor Denholm Elliott, who died of AIDS in 1992. Three years after her death, the News of the World journalist Paul McMullan did the following to his daughter—neither a celebrity nor even someone of public interest.

I remember when the Jimmy Saville revelations broke and all of the initial reporting and shocked blue-tick commentary was full of film and photos of Sir Jimmy with the Royal Family, laughing it up with PMs and so on. One day later, it had been crudely amputated and cauterised to a BBC-only scandal.

Labour lost three council seats last night. 1 each to the Greens, Lib dems and Plaid. Reform were 2nd or 3rd in each.
The Greens also won and beat Reform in another local election.
So when they say vote Labour to stop Reform, they couldn't be more wrong. Vote almost anyone but Labour to beat Reform.

Do you think every writer's goal is to see a movie of their work because you fundamentally don't understand what would be lost in that translation and cannot comprehend what refining or enjoying prose is like?

Read the book, techslop hawker.
Writers if you could drop your novel or short story into an AI and have it make a great and watchable movie out of your story, and you could sell that movie, would you do it? #writers #WritingCommunity

Even nominally left wing papers have no interest in telling human interest stories about trans people. No one cares. And we're months in.

jesus.

I just switched back to the standard win11 explorer right-click menu to try this, and even on a zen 5 system with gen 5 NVME drive, there is a perceptible delay as everything on the menu loads in. it’s milliseconds, but it’s there.

wow.

all hail explorerpatcher ig
windows 11 update: for the first time in my life, simply right clicking a file has a load time. unreal

That's the reason behind all of these articles about "transgender ideology" where no actual transgender ideologues get cited as holding such an ideology.

You might have to give them right to reply if you did name anyone.

Imagine Elon Musk whining about his child being "infected" by the "woke mind virus" but it's a middle aged British woman from the middle class saying it, so suddenly everyone takes her seriously for spewing the same shit they'd make fun of coming from Elon.

Yeah i got no real time for parents grieving their imagined child when they turn out trans. Like sure its an adjustment but likening your child finally becoming alive into them dying is kind of vile

Social media appears to have been a lifeline for Brianna Ghey, something she used to connect with other trans people, something that would have been difficult to do when I was her age. But her mother is talking about how social media "killed her", that she "died twice." It's revolting.

The calls for trans people to be quieter as we're wiped out are only going to increase, and you owe it to your sisters and brothers to get louder and louder.
