the basic deal for a long time has been that the government pays for much more per-capita rural infrastructure subsidy but does less direct personal subsidy in rural areas than in urban areas, and I think that helps obscure how good a deal rural America is getting
At some point i think we’re gonna see a tax revolt from the blue states // urban areas and it’ll get really ugly - “we’re tired of those ungrateful rural welfare queens freeloading off our jobs”
fundamentally rural Republicans are so racist they believe that anyone living in the urban core, and every single Black resident, is on some form of secret benefits they are footing the bill for. at no point is evidence required, it's just innate knowledge.

What Bluesky is doing to Palestinian accounts would be bad enough in itself, as a racist policy, but together with pressure on newspapers not to tell their stories, Google changing its maps to hide the emerging ruins, and so on, it's part of a horrific effort to support genocide.
What is happening now is not just poor or childish management it is a full digital purge. Deleting Palestinian accounts and silencing marginalized voices is not merely a flawed policy it is a blow to erasing our existence from the map, both digitally and humanly.
