people think this is kayfabe to protect other mods, but there are mod senators who have already announced retirement (gary peters, for example) who didn’t go for this, this was moderate wildcatting, and they’re gonna need to be primary purged

The Mayor of New York only makes $260k. I bet there are police that make more than that in NY with overtime.
We need to pay elected leaders more money and stop pretending it's some sort of calling. They're managing hundreds of billions of dollars in investments and millions of people's lives.

I think there are two factors here:
1.) people with “fuck you” money lack a mental model of economic utility for people actually impacted by beef costing infinity dollars
2.) some people also lack a mental model of people who actually believe in some form of liberalism or socialism
