There's always this (selective) fear that a contested primary will only hurt the Democratic nominee and, like, maybe? But those same rules apply to the GOP nominee too.

And God knows they're in some serious trouble too.
totally! that goes for the GOP end too tbh, because as a transgender woman, despite Cornyn obviously being really bad, Paxton is like the actual antichrist.

so if they were to put Paxton up, i feel like a lot more liberals and leftists would be able to unify with some conservatives against him.

Rep. Crockett responded to the gross new ad from the rich mega-donors behind the Talarico-supporting Lone Star Rising Super PAC.

Seeing as she didn't take the 2 million, they just used that money as a SuperPAC and the PAC paid for *ads* (sound familiar?) I guess you'll have to give me those boats.
If you think the person who accepted over $2 MILLION from crypto is going to regulate it well…

I’ve got fishing boats in Venezuela to sell you.
You're absolutely right and that is a problem but then we go into the reality that she is trying to REGULATE the industry!

The MSM believes this too, btw.

Media: Kamala is a policy lightweight.

Kamala: Let’s talk about this Project 2025 thing.

Media: First of all, only lying whores talk about policy. So write that down…
Basically, Republicans view informing the electorate of their policies and fundamentally unsportsmanlike compared to the noble art of birtherism.
Not only does nobody believe this about mistreatment of Mitt Romney, but the Obama 12 campaign went *easier* on him than some of the whisper campaigns in the primaries. We said he was an out of touch rich guy who profited from shipping jobs overseas (true!), we didn't do whisper anti-mormon stuff.

All the people who claimed it was unfair for Kamala Harris to be the Democratic presidential nominee are incensed that Rep Jasmine Crockett dares to challenge James Tapioca in a primary or that Gov Janet Mills challenge SS Boy Nazi Graham Cracker in Maine's primary.

Funny that.
All the people who claimed it was unfair for Kamala Harris to be the Democratic presidential nominee without competing in a primary are now freaking out because they are afraid she's gonna run in the 2028 Democratic Presidential primary.

You're using two unaffiliated Black men calling out misogynoir as proof that *the Crockett campaign* is perverse?

Not every Black person works for the Crockett campaign, and not every Crockett supporter is Black (hello!).
this really captures the perversity of the Crockett campaign

-Talarico is not particularly moderate
-the zero-to-100 application of racial and gender politics to buttress a dubious claim
-accidentally sneaking in the message that Talarico is more electable to your attack

Ya know, I've not seen the full text of the quote and uh, yeah. She's said what a lot of left-leaning Latinos have been saying: MAGA Latinos hate the fact that they are brown and think going to the far-right will make them seem "white".
December 2024— it rightfully got a lot of anger from Latino organizations

The Black vote is 11% of the overall electorate.

Crockett was never getting under 65% of it.

James Talarico needed to run up the score on the white vote and Latino vote.

He needs to win Bexar and Harris and the Valley by large margins.

It's not over, but his path is getting narrow.
The Texas democratic senatorial primary is now over. Colin Allred's response to James Talarico will shift all African American votes to Jasmine Crockett. No democratic candidate can win without African American support, so Talarico now stands 0% chance of winning and should drop out of the race.

both of them are exceptional and it make me sad - but Crockett is quick witted/funny. Funny in a way Beto, Allred & Talarico aren't - & that might just make the difference in Texas

I've got to be honest with you... watching how Talarico's campaign is handling the current attention makes me think Crockett (who is a very skilled politician) may well be a better candidate in the general. If Talarico can't handle criticism from Allred, he's not equipped for Cornyn.
I see people panicking about Crockett winning the primary , and...like, we just literally do not have the ability to say for certain that Talarico would do better in a general election. there's huge uncertainty and the default assumption that moderates do better is based on not much. 1
basically yglesias, jain, jentleson, WelcomePAC donors etc all base their prescriptions for Dems on a statistical model that nobody can replicate, and refuse to acknowledge (a) that uncertainty dwarfs the detectable effect of moderation & (b) that the last year has proved their views wrong!!

So, like, is "#khive" the new slur because the one thing this dude is missing is the "Tiktokker" is a Black woman.
...Key endorsement decisions (and an upcoming wave of both Crockett and GOP attack ads) are being impulsively made in the Texas senate race based off of a single random KHive tiktokker claiming that Talarico told her that Allred was a "mediocre Black man."

I hate it here.

It’s “believe Black women” “Support Black women” “Black women will save us” until we stretch a little further and aspire to more than folks think we should. Then we can not even be in the building and still catch hell for things we nowhere near.
Consider it explained.

And while I like both Jasmine Crockett and James Talarico, I have to say...this whole thing reeks of a desperate smear attack against Talarico. It doesn't make Crockett's campaign look good.

Democrats around the country have been seeking out these moderate Repubs that are scared of Black women to the point they'll pee themselves and vote for Ken "I cheated on my wife and was federally indicted" Paxton.

They don't exist!
When the Houston Chronicle mentioned Jain in their endorsement of Talarico, I knew that what was going to follow would be the standard "we need to move out the center and talk to the moderate Republican"

Which, like, fine, you have to find them first.

Texas Democrats, I'd also urge you to take a breath and realize we have this little foofaraw on our hands because we have more than one candidate for the office. That problem is a blessing, especially in these god forsaken parts.
February 3, 2026 at 2:00 AM
With more than a few folks online and in real life pointing their finger at Crockett for this, how should she respond to the very real danger that white Democrats are beginning to believe that she's cheating?
Go about your business, win the primary. And then do whatever you have to do to smooth things over with Allred after the fact.
If you’re Talarico at this moment, what’s your play?
