The funniest part of Elon spiraling out about this is that he isn’t responding with anything linked to others or relationships, just posting “great movie”
For reference. I might print this out and hang it in my house:

What a way to learn that there was a Division I head football coach named Mickey Mental
Weber State has parted ways with football coach Mickey Mental, who went 3-7 this season and was 13-20 (8-14 Big Sky) in three overall years.

Brent Myers (offensive line) has been named interim head coach for the season’s final two games.

I think a lot about the anonymous note that Judge Young included at the beginning of his AAUP v. Rubio opinion: “Trump has pardons and tanks … what do you have?” The pardons may be more dangerous than the tanks.
"If you’re a Republican official convicted of corruption, your odds of receiving clemency from Trump are roughly 100%...

"The latest move seems intended to deliver a political message: Those who assist Trump with his schemes need not worry about legal consequences..."

The best part about this is the shutdown isn't even going to end for at least another week.
what the shit is he even talking about?

There was always going to be an agreement & we were unlikely to get a lot. I think though it should have gone in to Dec if necessary, when most people would be making their decisions on open enrollment. Repubs still may have said no, but I think it would have made it clearer Repubs were to blame.

A fine day to remember Jim Harbaugh's unique relationship with "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald" and the remarkable interpretive work that his and other football brains have done on this important text. Not my preferred deal, but I'm not a fan of this site's one two move of assuming away all tradeoffs and on that basis, attacking people's motives.

It’s straightforwardly bad for this site’s mental health that a huge proportion of people here went into the shutdown with no idea of what would be a win condition, and so settled on their default: an affect of “seeming to be fighting.”

RIF protections and funding snap thru next year make the January fight a bit easier so harder to reduce to a cave/fold hard binary, but overall a good perspective. Something that can't go on forever, won't.

This is actually a huge get

(and which also might sink the deal in House anyway)
The RIFs language is actually great. Not only does it rehire the people RIFed during the shutdown, it makes it an unequivocal Antideficiency Act violation to do ANY MORE RIFs through the duration of the CR (Jan 30)

Completely stops Trump/Vought Phase 2 for now

Would love to see this standardized

fully funding SNAP a year out is what makes this a potential ceasefire not a surrender. it takes starvation off the table as potential stakes.
I would be more enthusiastic about that if I had any confidence that they actually would take another go at it in January.

What I want to see is how the vote on subsidies shakes out. If you have 4 R votes the deal looks different from if you don't.
This seems like an attempt to save holiday travel and take SNAP benefits off the negotiating table, but sets up another shutdown fight over healthcare early next year.

Better than what some of the reporting has suggested. Still unclear if it'll pass IMO

4/ My hunch is that the real dynamic is there. There are already enough cave votes to throw in the towel. But the cavers desperately want cover from the rest of the caucus. So everyone jumps together or enough join them to make it look like the caucus was ready to cave.

Here you with more creditable reporting from Politico, www.politico.com/live-updates.... The deal would be: (a) a mini-bus of three bills; (b) a separate vote on health care subsidies; and (3) protection for federal workers “laid off” during the shutdown.

This sounded like something Rs were trying to manifest. But now I am legit worried. Why would you cave now.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

Quick thread on timing of reopening the government, if they’re able to invoke cloture on MTP. (That’s a 60 voter, so you need 8 Dems assuming Rand Paul is still a no.)

For timing, if they invoke cloture today (assume after 6pm), that begins the 30 hours of debate. Takes us to Tuesday for MTP vote.
