hello, i am from die linke. are you a member of the precariat?
The episodes with agribusiness guys are always like this lol

They had a cattle rancher on a week or two ago who blamed “market manipulation” for growing beef prices. The manipulation in question? Beef imports from other countries.
One of the best Odd Lots in episodes is the one where they interview the Arizona farmer who defends the necessity of growing water-intensive crops in the desert, and midway through the interview, they ask him what crops his farm grows and the answer is "alfalfa for racehorses"
AI's water consumption is a problem for Arizona water. But a far, far bigger problem is our decision to grow water-intensive cow food in a desert

One really gets the sense it’s less British tyranny that created the revolution as opposed to the substantial independence the colonies already enjoyed. Any imposition at all felt like tyranny when the colonists were all but self governing.
My cats are loving the new Ken Burns American Revolution docuseries. They’re going hogwild about it in fact.

I want a girl with the right allocations

Who's fast and thorough and sharp as a tack

She's playing with her jewelry, she's putting up her hair

She's touring the facility and picking up slack

I want a girl with a strong floor and a hiiiiiiigh ceiling!

Perfect natural experiment. If Biden and Congress had treated the Jan 6th insurrection like the treason it was and jailed the people behind it, Trump’s power would have shriveled on the vine.

I really liked Louis CK’s standup and was a huge fan of his show. The show had a meditative, reflective quality to it that became the blueprint for a lot of television after.

In light of that, his post-scandal special was so disappointing. No reflection at all, just resentment.
When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

Louis C.K.’s Next Chapter
In a new standup special, and a début novel, the comedian navigates murky, post-#MeToo terrain: not quite exiled, not quite welcomed back.

“Red Plenty” felt like it was about YIMBYism when I read it ngl.
There is basically zero YIMBY literature and sci-fi other than Toni Morrison's Jazz and The Expanse.

Tempting to say this sucks but this might just be what it costs to run programs like this. Jump bike pulled out of sac it just wasn’t economical. No other city in the U.S. has as comprehensive of a bikeshare network as NYC has.
It's too damn expensive to ride a Citi Bike. buff.ly/cZCvWJq

I feel like the two dimensional political compass for local elected democrats are:

1. Mod or Prog

2. Interested in solving any local problems whatsoever vs deferring to local gatekeeper assholes.
It’s incredibly funny people flipped out about a guy running the most standard ass municipal government policy playbook imaginable.
Soon small businesses won’t have to wait for Small Business Saturday to get attention from their Mayor.

Some changes that they can look forward to:

Venezuela’s Hanoi Hannah “Caracas Cassandra” would be like:

“Go home G.I. Steam Machine and half like 3 are waiting for you. Your imperialist government has sent gamers to die, G.I. They do not care whether you have a GF. They will let you die in the jungle instead of an affordable home, G.I.”

It’s shocking to me someone thought the Wizard of oz was compelling enough to do an elaborate fanfiction about it and then someone else thought that fanfiction was so compelling that they made a musical adaption of it.

Can the Pod John’s and Chris Hayes and others start grilling Dem presidential hopefuls about whether they’re going to seek prosecution for any of these criminals?

It’s so wild some people genuinely believe NGOs actually speak for anyone other than their boards. It’s like encountering someone who believes Santa Claus exists.
While @resnikoff.bsky.social's article has some valid criticism, part of the challenge underscored here is that the YIMBY movement needs to continue to engage with justice orgs and listen to the lived experiences in dialogue. Swooping in and telling communities what to think is the wrong approach.
