Trump wanted the shutdown, and he didn't care about the suffering of anyone but himself. What Angus King knows is that the next congress can undo anything this current congress does. But they can't bring back anyone that might have died in a plane crash, or a child damaged from malnutrition.

Don't feel sorry for these people. Given the chance, they would vote for Trump all over again. We know from exit polling data that 54% of whites & 32% of Hispanics voted Republican. They are the first ones with their hands out for money and welfare. Don't you think they knew this all along?
