I think the issue is that "gender studies" as a general topic is indeed a critical area of knowledge we need to develop and "gender studies" as actually implemented in academia is...well...let's charitably put it as "qualitatively, rather than quantitatively" focused.
kind of darkly funny that "gender studies" is the stereotypical "useless degree" because gender studies will help you understand a large and important chunk of the current psychosis in american life

Fallout 1 is an incredibly well written and tightly paced experience. Far superior to Fallout 2.

Some of this is posting quantity, some of it is also demonstrated interest. I occasionally do some of my Ukraine posting on here, but it gets pretty much zero traction vs. twitter because most of serious Ukraine twitter stayed over there.
i think this site really needs to figure out how to grow the non-politics verticals (the baseball moment was a good thing!) because i suspect a lot of the bad clusters come out of the political clusters driving 95% of ENG-lang posts
I'd be happy with big non politics accounts.

If you're an officer and you need a JAG opinion to determine whether being ordered to engage in armed force in Greenland is a blatantly illegal order, your oath became meaningless years ago.
While people are talking about the chances that Bondi screws this up (and they are always there) this is a long running investigation and case and I do think they have Maduro dead to rights on the trafficking charges.

Not to reopen aged discourse, but I know that everyone finds the author of that compact mag article annoying. However, I do think that it's getting pretty obvious that major prestigious cultural sectors engaged in blatant Title VII violations during peak woke.

There's a reason why modern Ukrainian identity was born on February 24, 2022. The Russian invasion helped remove the salience of a lot of the old, very real, internal tensions over language and ethnic/regional identity through greatly increasing the stakes.
I think it was a Belgian Flemish Catholic Partisan who after WW2 commented that the Nazis made all the pre-War divisions and rivalries in Belgium seem quaint by comparison.
This part in particular struck me as worrisome. A “veteran loyalist activist in Ballymena in his 60s” is no one’s idea of an out of touch liberal, and even he’s scared by the direction of public sentiment. And it’s driven by social media which spreads hate for profit, with no seeming end in sight

Likeliest scenario here is a sort of deal between Gonzalez and the old regime akin to that in pre-coup Myanmar between the NLD and the Tatmadaw.

•not clear at all if there are US troops on the ground (which would, you know, constitute the occupation part)

It's pretty clear Maduro was given up in return for the rest of his network getting a compromise deal for the future. Ironically one of the biggest parts of that likely being continued access to drug smuggling revenues.
You know, it’s plausible that this was done without a plan for what comes after because the only real goal was to get video of US troops looking cool arresting Marudo so it can be posted Online. It seems to be the only thing that matters to this administration.
