incredibly funny that Joyce Carol Oates owned Musk so hard he's started trying to post like a regular person with normal interests

My theory: these people have driven themselves so mad that they are now so terrified of ethnic diversity that when he passes Brasserie Zedel and some tourists and two black people come out, what he sees are machete-wielding militiamen.

My honest take is that Ds played a bad hand poorly and the TL is split between people pretending a Pikachu, an expired debt card, and a five dollar coupon for Taco Bell was aces over kings and people pretending shitting on the table and yelling YAHTZEE is 69 dimensional chess.

this stuff matters in itself, of course, but also the TERF-Industrial complex won't ever stop. Each "win" is just the new base camp for the next battle.

As I said before, if say the Republican Senate was comprised of clones of Joe Manchin we wouldn't be in this position!
Yes, the uniparty is the obvious takeaway here.

Also Luthen puts his money where his mouth is in a way I don't think many people IRL would be willing to.
Luthen is a great character but boy oh boy did so many people get the wrong message with him from Andor

A reminder that this anti-trans panic is 100% bullshit and exactly none of our country’s problems are related to someone expressing their gender identity and everyone who isn’t a hate-filled weirdo knows it.

If the people had elected Democratic politicians in 2024 none of this would be happening.
My colleague calls Congress "the complaint department for capitalism." Every 2 or 6 years, we make believe 'we the people' choose our leaders, & we can call customer service hotline (Congressional switch board) to lodge complaints. All while real bosses actually billionaires.

Biden remains the only person to have beaten Trump in an election.
Black voters pushed really hard for Joe Biden so they're not exactly batting 1.000 either.

The 2009-10 was never going to do those things because it depended on people who ideologically did not support those things, and ehose careers were destroyed by helping pass the ACA.
It’s in the Schrödinger area of true and not true: The trifecta in 2009-10 could have nuked, passed M4A, did incredible levels of taxation on billionaires, etc.
But Dems openly stating that wouldn’t have gotten to power in the years before.

should dems have settled for the deal? no. is this really going to shape 2026 outside of activating the base to primary everyone who looks like a squish? i doubt it
like as much as this site is in a fit of justified anger over this, the GOP... does not actually win anything by fucking over insurance markets
if they don't fix Obamacare credits and/or fuck it by replacing it with HSAs, next year is going to be uhhhh a healthcare election

While I don’t ride or die for Pete Buttigieg, the vitriol directed at him is completely insane.
“When I was younger I wished that I could have taken a pill to turn me straight; but I have accepted and embraced my identity now” is an *extremely* common sentiment from Millennial and older gay people!

When Pete Buttigieg says he would take medicine that makes gay men straight. What do you think is Mr. Buttigieg's attitude towards gays, men and medicine?

Laura Dern played a lesbian character in the episode when Ellen came out.
She didn't work again for a year.

Gen Z, alpha & younger Millennials grew up w/gay marriage as normal, (depending on geographic/religious factors, that is.)
They don’t connect with a time when coming out risked losing jobs, family & friends.
Or when a TV movie about a gay relationship was a major controversy for weeks.
