Are we doing "The ACA Sucks" Discourse again?

I'm going to guess most people hating on it from the left have never received a hospital bill the size of book; I put the apple there for scale.

That's the $1.3 million bill my kid incurred in his first ~94 days. Why does that make me respect the ACA?

Without the people to run it, the plan is to impound any money appropriated to this fund. Say appropriations passed in a “clean CR.”

There’s no reason ACA subsidies can’t be impounded either under Vought logic.

Either make them go nuclear or get them to unimpound and unlayoff everyone.
There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

America’s children deserve better than this.

The headline appears quite misleading. His exact words were “In commenting on Obergefell, I am not suggesting that the decision in that case should be overruled.”

That and the follow-on quote about Dobbs don’t actually deny that Alito wants to overrule Obergefell.

Yes, do this.

"You cannot arrest someone because they are Hispanic" is worth fighting for. It's worth shutting down the government for. And it's worth attracting attention to.
A provision banning racial profiling of Hispanics by ICE in reaction to yesterday's SCotUs action should immediately be added as a non-negotiable position for any kind of CR.

*Force* the GOP to *demand* racial profiling of Hispanics and make them threaten to shut down the government over it

Ramsey and MAHA have immense parallels. They blame all unequal outcomes on controllable moral qualities.

They also both have an endgame in absurdity, as evidence and logic shows the effect of luck.
It may not seem like it but this is an advertisement. Dave is selling you a lie. The average family making $79k a year cannot afford to plunk away $1k a month much less get a 13% ROI on that money. He's telling you you're bad with money and your answer is to follow him and do what he does.

There should be a law against assets that are digital bearer token based.

The biggest of these is crypto, which has bankrupted banks through scams.

But digital gift cards are also cumulatively big. At least they should have low limits per card.
ngl my first reaction upon discovering our intern had fallen for a gift card scam in her first week (an impersonation attack based on details from linkedin, literally the kind of problem that @blockpartyapp.com is solving, an actual example we use in our marketing) was

OMG how could you be so dumb

Putting this in terms of “experts said” is simply the 1984 quote: “The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”

The 14th says what it says. O’Donnell was born on US soil under US jurisdiction. That’s it. End of story.
President Trump said on Saturday he was considering revoking Rosie O’Donnell’s U.S. citizenship. Trump has feuded with the comedian and actress since before he became president. Experts said the president does not have the power to take away the citizenship of a U.S.-born citizen.

Kidnapping for ransom has long been a thin, but digital bearer assets really appear to supercharge it.

Same with scams. Before crypto only had relatively small amounts transferred without a KYCed chain, through gift cards. Now the amount of electronic transfers outside KYC is essentially unlimited.
A third person accused of kidnapping a man and torturing him for nearly three weeks to steal his Bitcoin fortune surrendered to the police on Tuesday morning. Authorities have said the victim was an Italian man who was tormented in a luxury Manhattan townhouse for weeks.

If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.

"Did Trump just defy a court order?"

YES, motherfuckers. Why in the fuck is that so hard for people to say? The judge told him to stop doing something, he did it anyway, IN DEFIANCE OF THE JUDGES RULINGS!

WHY ARE PEOPLE COMMITTED TO ADDRESSING FASCISM IN THE PASSIVE VOICE????

It definitely seems like a law passed by Congress abridging freedom of speech.
Leavitt: "Secretary Rubio reserves the right to revoke the visa of Mahmoud Khali. Under the immigration and nationality act, the secretary of state has the right to revoke a green card or a visa for individuals who are adversarial to the foreign policy and national security interests of the USA."

“Child support” significantly hides the ball here. National Directory of New Hires has income and tax information on EVERY person, child or without, with a W-2 in any of the 50 states.

Elon has in mind that a lot of people earn $200k but collect SNAP or Medicaid.
Breaking news: The Department of Health and Human Services has granted associates of the U.S. DOGE Service access to a sensitive child support database with troves of income data, overriding the objections of career employees.

I keep saying how a 2nd avenue subway station is as long as the Empire State Building is tall. Or in other words, why is most blue state governance built around “you can’t have nice things.”?
In the US we've lived with so many absurdities because that's how it's always been and it's hard to change. The Senate & Electoral College, employment-bound health insurance, expensive-by-design housing & bad public transit, and an unaccountable ultra rich class. We *can* have a brighter future.
the promise of bidenism was that things were going to go back to Normal, and the hope was that people would choose Normal over fascism. it turns out people don't like Normal--or at least, not enough. we have got to promise not just a return to "the way things were"--but a *new future.*
