Even as the world changes dramatically, UK discussion of Brexit goes round the same old loops. I wrote a piece on the @ukandeu.bsky.social site in *2016* about the 'sector-by-sector' approach Starmer's now raising. Some details no longer hold, but the basic points do: ukandeu.ac.uk/is-a-sector-...
What is just crazy about this, aside from the need for this statement at all, is that Greenland already IS in the US sphere of influence. It's far cheaper for the US, in material, security, and reputational terms, to have Denmark continue administering Greenland and work within NATO on security.

Go away

Gooooaaaaaaaal. GET IN 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽

The UK position is to avoid that choice at all costs, I think.

Ha!

I would have thought so until the SAFE debacle

That’s cos we’re playing solitaire.

Good point

While we’re having a nice chat amongst ourselves, may be worth wondering what the EU is willing to give? Unless, of course, this really is just posturing amongst ourselves.
The red line blurring commences. Given growing Brexit scepticism in the public at large, and particularly on the left bloc, expect this to continue

The Conservative Party is simultaneously arguing people shouldn’t be jailed for social media posts directly calling for violence, but also that people’s citizenship should be revoked over social media posts they don’t like.

Make it make sense.
