‘Here’s my account of how Nuzzi had inappropriate relationships with a series of creeps, interrupted only by me, totally fine and normal Ryan Lizza’ is a fun angle to keep an eye on as this unfolds

JOHN FRUSCIANTE: So I can do like five minutes of melodic King Crimson stuff at the end? With a field recording?

ANTHONY KIEDIS: Yeah man absolutely. Sounds incredible. The song is called “Sir Psycho Sexy” by the way.

one of the stranger phenomena in American life is that hate is supposed to flow in one direction (rural people get to hate urban people, Republicans get to hate Democrats) and if the hate goes the other way people pretend as if this is very upsetting.
The media made a HUGE deal out of "basket of deplorables" and "cling to their guns or religion."

But, of course, it will totally ignore Trump saying he hates Democrats: "I hate them. I believe they hate their country."
in addition to his "shylocks" comment, i can't imagine the media backlash if Biden said anything like from this screenshot - that he "hates Republicans" - and i'm also tired of having this "IMAGINE IF BIDEN!" thought experiment but it's just a constant reminder of the double standards

And a reminder: We only get first-round results today, so unless a candidate gets more than 50% in the first round, we'll have to wait a week to see how the ranked-choice voting shakes out.

Tonight will be the start of a takes phony war that will only be resolved once they run the RCV next week (ideally, the NYC BOE has a habit of not doing things in a timely manner). I'll say if Cuomo is above 40 he's probably going to win, below 35 and he's in rough shape. But we really don't know!
is it true we really wont know anything until july? i dont remember how long rcv voting took in 2021

The bus fare evasion IS bad. Who was governor as fare evasion shut up? Who appointed the guy leading the MTA? Who ran the guy out who had the best idea for bringing it down? Say it with me: ANDREW CUOMO.
The characterization of the subway is stuck in mid-pandemic mindset and honestly who cares about these bus fare numbers that much? Yeah fare evasion is bad but this isn’t a good reason to hand the mayoralty to an inept sex creep out for revenge. What a useless editorial board.

The funny thing about voting for Cuomo because he’s an experienced manager is he presided over a period of notorious dysfunction and disarray in New York state
I don't understand this rationale for Cuomo. For example, when is the last time someone's street wasn't plowed during a snowstorm? 2010? (When is the last time we even got major snowfall?) Say what you will about Adams, but Sanitation has long been one of the most functional agencies in the city.

You almost never hear a driver complain that EZ-Pass is an arm of the surveillance state, but you almost always hear that about speed cameras. I wonder what the difference is!
I think I underestimated how many people on here are both anti-car *and* pro-surveillance (as long as it's only for the 95% of americans who drive) bsky.app/profile/vita...
