Politics is not fan culture—none of these people are your friends. There are no permanent friends and no permanent enemies, only permanent interests.

We can be grateful that MTG is against Trump without liking her or thinking of her as a long-term ally. The anti-Trump coalition must be huge.

"In 2 years of Gaza genocide, Sunday shows on NBC, ABC and CNN have not featured a single Palestinian guest"
Does it seem how it works with Palestinians is slightly different than other kinds of prejudice? As if it violates a very important rule for them to be seen or allowed to speak. Or maybe what it was like during Jim Crow where Black Americans were treated as tainted? inthesetimes.com/article/gaza...
In 2 Years of Gaza Genocide, Sunday Shows on NBC, ABC and CNN Have Not Featured a Single Palestinian Guest
In a microcosm of the U.S. coverage of Israel’s war on Gaza, since Oct. 7, 2023, influential Sunday news shows have not seen fit to book any Palestinians.

I’ll never forget when I saw a TikTok of a zoomer saying there should be laws against cheating that send people to jail and all the comments were agreeing and I was like what the hell is going on
The way people have started to speak about infidelity as a crime akin to physical or sexual abuse is wild. You can’t send the whole of France to jail.

It’s more about ending the nuclear family as a compulsory economic unit. Abolishing the family in Engels’ sense means abolishing the economic compulsion that traps care, survival and dependency inside a private household and reorganizing it through collective, socialized systems / relations

The biggest mistake liberalism made was to watch conservatives worship the constitution and “the founders” like idols for decades and believe they really meant it.

The constitution and the rule of law they hold dear are the versions in their heads where they get to do whatever they are want.

Just re-read this piece and -- odd as it is to say, given the nature of it -- I think it's my favorite thing I wrote this year in terms of style?
I was thrilled to come back to @defector.com to write about "Alligator Alcatraz," the vicious folklore of "gator bait," and the long history of white supremacists trying to recruit alligators as enforcers of racial terror

NEW: Jan Crawford's attack on SCOTUS "corruption" narrative was its own substance-free narrative.

On Face the Nation, CBS News's chief legal correspondent went after Supreme Court critics as "dangerous." And yet, her court defense was completely lacking in specifics.
