The biggest mistake liberalism made was to watch conservatives worship the constitution and “the founders” like idols for decades and believe they really meant it.

The constitution and the rule of law they hold dear are the versions in their heads where they get to do whatever they are want.

I was thrilled to come back to @defector.com to write about "Alligator Alcatraz," the vicious folklore of "gator bait," and the long history of white supremacists trying to recruit alligators as enforcers of racial terror

These people are so close to getting it but not close enough to understand that this is a powerful argument against liberal democracy - *the* argument that has fueled the meteoric rise of the illiberal right in this century.
She helped pass a bill—which is 100% part of liberalism. Maybe you don’t like the bill. Maybe the bill will hurt some people and have bad outcomes. But that’s part of liberal democracy.

NEW: Jan Crawford's attack on SCOTUS "corruption" narrative was its own substance-free narrative.

On Face the Nation, CBS News's chief legal correspondent went after Supreme Court critics as "dangerous." And yet, her court defense was completely lacking in specifics.

Please look at this man's thread. A thread where he defends MTG's support for trans elimination because it was done through regular order. Through the mechanism of 'liberal democracy'

it’s one of the few places that you can still follow the global struggle, there simply isn’t enough adoption of BlueSky in the global south. I find the view being discussed below to be such a Anglo/western Europe-centric sentiment that belies a chauvinism or indifference to the rest of the world
It is entirely understandable to leave Twitter because it's rife with nazis. But are Bsky users who smugly claim people still on Twitter are 'okay' with nazis and Musk, by extension, admitting that they're okay with Bsky's digital ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. Is that how simple the world is.

The Israel lobby, health insurance, pharmaceuticals, real estate, want certain results. We'll be back here asking why everyone hates dems in less than 4 years
