The last four words are also important here. The USAID cuts should primarily be seen as a eugenicist project. Elon Musk and the far right, generally, believe that foreign aid is a part of the Great Replacement.
This thought has been lingering in my head for a while but this tweet prompted me to write it out.

Why didn’t Trump 1 force this grappling already, I wonder
it's an inconvenient truth that US federalism is one of the biggest structural blocks on Trumpism and if much of Bsky had its way it would be gone
I have some issues with Cuban. But having Musk or RFK Jr running everyone’s health insurance to the last detail gets a lot of people killed.

And the retort can’t just be “Mark, why are you asking us how to fix that?” 1/

There are certain circumstances where AI-created is totally irrelevant to me, but for a lot of art the knowledge that a person made it (or that a video really happened) genuinely is integral to the enjoyment. Feels like some people are intentional obtuse about that
“How can you suddenly dislike art when you find out it’s made by AI?”

For the same reason I can dislike art when I find out the employees were overworked and underpaid.

Because I care about people.

You dipshit.

Last night somebody stole a bag of human feces off my porch. At least karma was most likely swift
Tbh people steal shit off my porch all the time, it sucks! And I think being in an urban environment does play a role, people walk by on their way to somewhere else and do it impulsively. I’m always noticeably home and it still happens

I’m starting to genuinely hate how the administration and media are using the word “pause”
No one believes this is about national security. This is Trump’s war on cheap, clean power. Electricity costs are going to soar and good union jobs will suffer.

"This story doesn't need a sandworm"

This is almost always wrong. Arguably, EVERY story benefits from adding a huge subterranean worm with quasi-mystical or semi-supernatural powers, or equivalent (similar to Moby Dick).

Obviously the bigger the worm, the more literary quality it adds.

Reminder: it is not correct to refer to Conway as a "Never Trumper."

He was, in fact, a Trumper before he became a not-Trumper. He was literally a top pick to run Trump's DOJ in the first term. He was absolutely a Trumper.

tl;dr Bernie stopped the bill since he thought if everybody wants to save kids with cancer so much it’s a good opportunity to force through some other legislative goals he wants instead
NEW: A bill restoring money for pediatric cancer therapies was defeated in the Senate.

My colleague @samsteindc.bsky.social — who has covered this wrenching story ever since the funding was first removed at Elon Musk's behest last year — reports on why Bernie Sanders helped defeat the bill.
A Pediatric Cancer Bill Fell One Vote Short. Bernie Cast It.
