These barbarians are destroying everything that makes society work. Kids can't go to school, patients can't go to the hospital. We are, in effect, paying them to wreck the basic infrastructure of the country

Folks in the US still like to treat the whole Greenland invasion stuff as sufficiently unserious to engage with, but it is sufficiently serious that NATO allies are actively deploying tripwire forces to deter the US. That is *already* a political and actual cost to them, and to US relationships

“Under the authority of the people”. That’s part of our oath. That’s who I work for, the people of Hoboken and Jersey City.
Rather than a religious text, newly-minted New Jersey Assemblywoman Katie Brennan, a progressive who beat a million-dollar spending disadvantage and the full force of the Hudson County machine, was sworn in on a printout of her district's entire universe of registered voters

if you want to know what it is like in minneapolis, I don’t even have to scroll on facebook to find a horror story. it’s basically my whole feed.

everyone i know in minneapolis is seeing ICE take people—at gas stations, taquerias, bus stops, schools. just snatching random people.

my man, you’re talking about the people who killed George Floyd
State and local law enforcement know the communities they serve. They’ve built the trust and know how to keep us safe.

As Minnesotans express their first amendment rights, I encourage you to remain peaceful and know that local law enforcement has one goal in mind: your safety.

If you're not willing to arrest the killer, don't arrest the demonstrators.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey says 29 people were arrested in downtown last night during a noise demonstration at a hotel reportedly housing ICE agents: "For those that are taking the bait and causing property damage or otherwise, there are consequences. We're holding the line here all the way."

Here’s how Democratic leaders can drive media coverage and change the narrative.
Rep. @AOC: I understand that Vance believes shooting a young mother of three in the face three times is an acceptable America that he wants to live in, and I do not. That is a fundamental difference between Vance and I. I do not believe that the American people should be assassinated in the street.

This is going to happen again and again and again. We can set the contours of where it happens by locking them up in friendly jurisdictions. This will also help galvanize an anti-ICE political movement. Things are going to be very intense this summer, the next one and one after

Q: Is there anything stopping state law enforcement from conducted an independent investigation even if the feds don't want it?

JACOBSON: Without assistance from the FBI, we would be at a loss to be able to initiate & conduct a thorough investigation. It would be very difficult if not impossible

Right. The point is not “it matters extra because it’s a citizen,” the point is “we either hang together or we will all hang separately.”
i think it is ok to reiterate that the victim as a us citizen. yes, noncitizens are equally entitled to human rights. but also, it's important to illustrate how ice isn't about immigration at all

You and your wife drop your 6-year-old off at school. You just moved here. You see ICE terrorizing your new neighbors. You film them, as is your legal right. Your wife complies with orders. She is then shot in the head. You still have to pick up your child later today.

This could be you.

Yes you do not and should not have to see that video, but it’s very important we have them because many of our major US news institutions have entrenched an insane dissembling of reality and regurgitation of authoritarian narratives under guise of ‘objectivity’.
the nyt says that no version of events in minneapolis can be "verified independently." but that's not true! there are multiple videos proving that the ICE version of events is a total lie. maybe the nyt can, y'know, watch one of them? www.nytimes.com/live/2026/01...

Having seen the video (it's not particularly graphic but you don't need to watch this stuff) a pertinent bit I'd add is the geometry of the shooter relative to the car put him very obviously out of the direction of travel

The car is moving prior to the first shot but he's in no danger of being hit

Remember when Dems folded and got nothing and everyone was so happy and patting themselves on the back about getting the Epstein Files released and they just blacked everything out and started deleting shit and now they're bombing Venezuela because we re-opened the government. Anyway
If Trump is really stealing spending power from Congress then it would be insanity for Democrats to vote to fund the government later this month. Shut it down until the president stops wiping his ass with the Constitution.
