The White House intervened on behalf of accused sex trafficker Andrew Tate during a federal investigation.

“It was so offensive to what we’re all here to do, to uphold the law and protect the American people,” one official involved said.

Hold up!

I fell off my chair in the first paragraph.

She told the jury that Comey didn't have a right to NOT testify at his own trial? WTAF???? It's a constitutionally protected right to not testify against yourself!

Where did she get her law degree?

Yup, I never made it to the next paragraph.

When we dehumanise refugees, we dehumanise ourselves - Bylines Scotland
If we allow lies and propaganda to inform our views of refugees, what does that say about us?

Just heard re: some ICE agents who raided a Chicago taqueria, then went back to the same taqueria for lunch the following week and got confused when the owner kicked them out, and I realized "jesus these doofuses really do believe we're all living in a video game where the NPCs have no memory"

Top tip: Calling someone far right a clown, really, really, really upsets them.

If you check their replies to normal ppl, it’s their go-to emoji. They can’t cope with being mocked. Normal ppl think that being called a clown is a bit childish. But they flip out. 🤡

Donald Trump destroyed public service broadcasting in the US - it's little surprise Nigel Farage wants to do the same thing here.

Trump’s America, don’t let it become Farage’s Britain.

The same people obsessed with historic grooming gangs are not at all interested in the involvement of the powerful with historic grooming gangs

BBC is far from perfect but…people who’d rather have a media run by Murdoch and Paul Marshall will also decry elites in a time of billionaires & food banks
Not the first to make this point. But there is a tyrant in charge of another country who is accused of being heavily linked to a paedophile sex ring - and supposed ‘patriots’ in this country are passionately willing him to take down our national broadcaster. Madness.

No Mr Dymond, the Conservative government dd not suggest sending asylum seekers to Rwanda "for processing".

They proposed sending people to Rwanda full stop.

They were to be handled by the Rwandan asylum system, and were explicitly forbidden to return to the UK.

When Tommy Robinson is celebrating your policies it is time to take a long hard look in the mirror and then quit politics forever.

The Labour government's proposals on temporary protection seem very close indeed to Priti Patel's 2022 proposals in analysis, in spirit and content.

Where Mahmood and Starmer go harder than Patel and Johnson is by arguing 10 years is too short; could return refugees after 10-19 years in Britain

Feeling physically sick to hear on the news Shabana Mahmood saying that “illegal migration is tearing the country apart” which she must know is not true. What’s “tearing the country apart” is the cynical entrepreneurs of fear and hate who have gleefully pushed this non-issue.

Her portrayal of asylum seekers doesn't just respond to the racist narratives of the Far Right: by othering asylum seekers as unworthy winners of riches, in implicit contrast to struggling families, Shabana Mahmood actively promotes and feeds those Far Right lies.
For Shabana Mahmood to attack some of the most cruelly treated people in the world as having won a "golden ticket" because they manage to get to and claim asylum in Britain is unforgiveable.

A new, far right, low for which I can think of no precedent, by any UK Government.

Appeasing the far-right gives the broader public the impression that their narrative is true. There is no way to stem support for Reform by endorsing their policies. Either you are fighting against them or you are, regardless of how you see yourself, fighting for them.

You cant parachute asylum seekers into deprived areas, in completely inappropriate housing, then say those migrants are 'dividing our country'. You divided the country because you can't organise a basic service and process claims in a timely way

If you listen to Labour, their reasons for being cruel to refugees is twofold: a) to win the votes of bigots, b) to deter economic migrants. They think harming the most vulnerable is an acceptable price to pay to benefit themselves & deter the needy.
