Trump calling Somalis "garbage" en route to a literal militarized purge of the community is a real litmus test for Democratic party politicians. Imagine being so worthless that they can't find time even to speak up about it.

I'm pretty sure what we're seeing is a succession of people reading the room and picking the next exit ramp they think they can make sound convincing or rationalize.

Some picked Epstein & more are going to pick war crimes, in spite of the fact neither is new for this admin.

But NEWSMAX?? lol damn
Woah. Newsmax’s legal analyst just said Pete Hegseth and everyone involved in the illegal boat strike should be “prosecuted for a war crime.”

They’ve even lost Newsmax on this one.

Trump's popular vote plurality was catastrophic for the United States and also the future prospects of the Republican party
Cosmically funny that, the American public has had less than a year of uncut republican governance, and they’ve decided that they absolutely hate this shit, spit it out

Election result after election result keeps showing us progressives over perform particularly in the south. A lot of folks will keep trying to discount these results, but make no mistake, to win next year we need candidates that can energize our base.
NYTimes projecting a net shift of 14 points from 2024 with these variations between the counties

Turnout in 2022 here was ~180k, tonight is going to come in at most marginally under (currently ~168k with a little left to count)

that's a hell of an electorate to swing this much

“I think we have to be careful with the Nazi comparisons” people are always waiting until we are five minutes until the Holocaust and then they’re like well it’s only ethnic cleansing not a Holocaust
Is this clear enough or are we still doing that whole thing where we pretend it’s about “crime”?

A byproduct of the streaming only / shift away from physical is the launch of something is the worst it will be with the implicit promise or incremental improvements and corrections rolled out over time as opposed to having to get it right for a cutoff print and ship date.

Good clarification for people who will think this is due to changing the aspect ratio, which is the reason crew members and equipment often end up in shots of older shows that have updated. In this case, Mad Men always was framed this way - this was just a totally different huge screw up!
This is absolutely real. The current HBO Max version of this "Mad Men" episode "remastered for 4K" did not include an updated visual effects shot, which originally painted out the crew and equipment. Not just that, the HBO Max episode titles/order is jumbled for s01.
HBOMax has started showing a 'remastered' 4K Mad Men and they’ve messed things up so during Roger’s oyster vomit scene you can now see the crew men with the vomit hose on the right

As someone who has had multiple MRIs, competent doctors don’t send you in for an MRI like it’s a blood pressure test.

These are very expensive magnet machines! Spinning one up is expensive! They have a reason for sending you there! Nothing this administration says is true!

Nick Fuentes has been working overtime to sanitize his image and present himself as a uniter of the left and right. Very clearly using language often associated with the left.

This is part of a larger effort by the anti-Zionist antisemitic far right to recruit people on the left.

If Admiral Bradley didn’t realize before that these cowards were setting him up to take the fall, he knows it now. Time to hire a good lawyer.

In Disney's desire to become everything, Disney as a brand will mean nothing.

(Which I would make the argument, is sorta where Netflix is - a content pipe that ultimately has IP but means nothing.)
what even is Disney+ anymore

Watching people “discover” environmental racism, and then double down on doing it has been depressing.
It’s so wild how the wealthy are destroying the Amazon that potentially has the cure for all the cancers in favor of an Amazon that’s creating new types of cancers

Romance has been keeping publishing afloat for a while now. And far more people read romance than will admit to it.

And in the audiobook world? We have narrators who are FAMOUS for doing romance audiobooks. They’re basically celebrities.
seriously, it appears that while basically nobody is reading fiction anymore when it comes to 90% of genres of literature, a lot of very horny people must be spending a lot of money on romance novels

"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."

Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?
