Trump fired tens of thousands of federal employees, his tariffs wreaked havoc on our agriculture industry, and Georgia has the 4th highest rate of ice detentions. Yet there hasn’t been so much as a whisper from Republicans who control every branch of government in our state.
Trump approval, per The Economist —

Georgia: -18.6%
Maine: -18.4%
Texas: -17.2%
Michigan: -15.8%
North Carolina: -13.6%
Ohio: -9.2%
Iowa: -8.7%
Florida: -7.5%
South Carolina: -7.3%
Mississippi: -6.9%
Alaska: -6.6%
Louisiana: -5.1%
Nebraska: -1.8%

These states all have Senate elections this year

Our rights only exist if we know them and insist on them. Thank you to @the-ilrc.bsky.social for this incredible resource.

Today, we honored the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Yet too many politicians quoting him pass legislation and support policies that harm the beloved community he strived for. 1/

Today, we honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Beloved Community Commemorative Service at Ebenezer Baptist Church. We then joined the community in the MLK march after.

The man who killed Renee worked for ICE for over 12 years, called her a bitch after he murdered her, and ICE agents prevented a doctor at gun point from providing medical aid. That’s not a training problem. We should be spending that money on healthcare not a lawless agency.
These elected Dems still don’t get it. @booker.senate.gov

I’m asked a lot how my identity affects this race and our ability to win. Toni Morrison said, “The function, the very serious function of racism is distraction.” So instead of getting distracted, I spoke about policy AND addressed the question directly.

We are so scared to hope because of how bleak this moment is, but hope is a discipline. When we practice it, there is no limit to what we can do. Georgia, this is our year. Let’s flip our state and build for a better future!

They’ll say ICE just needs more training, but Renee’s death came from ego and hatred unleashed in a moment of vitriol.

I'm back with a new edition of What's on Fire, where I discuss the first few days of session in the Georgia Assembly & Governor Kemp's State of the State address.

This is a once in a generation election cycle and each of us can play a part in flipping our state for the better.

It’s quite hypocritical when GOP leaders invoke God as they openly defy His command to care for the least among us #GAPol

It’s easy for a Governor who hasn’t had to think about paying a bill for years to say we don’t need the programs he’s cutting. But Georgians who don’t have health insurance, whose roads aren’t holding up, and whose wages have stayed too low as costs skyrocket disagree. #gapol

Governor is bragging about our rainy day fund because he’s underfunding everything else. That’s like bragging about your savings account with all your bills still unpaid. #GAPol

Thanks to @knowadebaraso.bsky.social
for having me on the pod to discuss the gubernatorial race and my love for this state.

There were 7 democrats on that stage in Savannah last week, and yet I was the only one to talk about the right to organize in the workplace and fight back against corporate greed. Georgians don’t want the same old politics that leaves them behind. We deserve better.

Day 1 at the Capitol, and y’all showed up.

Hundreds packed the halls demanding an agenda that puts people over corporations. For a moment, it truly felt like the people’s house! #GAPol

Every day we’re told there’s “no other option.” That cruelty is inevitable. That injustice is unavoidable.

That’s a lie.

Everything we’re living through is the result of cruel choices that hurt instead of help, turn the American dream into a nightmare, and make life harder.

Corporate democrats and republicans want to invest in corporations. I want to invest in Georgians because for too long we've handed money over to corporate interests and defunded critical programs like healthcare leaving us all behind. We deserve better.

We live in the richest country on earth — medical debt and medical bankruptcy should not exist.

The reality is we are closer to Medicaid expansion than most people realize. But unlike my opponents I know that’s the bare minimum. We also need to think about what comes next.

Today in Minneapolis, a masked government agent killed Renee Nicole Good, a United States citizen, at close range. Federal agents then prevented a doctor from administering aid. No amount of spin can change those facts. 1/
