Westminster Abbey (and Houses of Parliament) are actually built on an island IN the Thames and then we just built roads over the bit of water and then buildings on top of that and now the whole thing looks solid but god forbid the Thames Barrier fails
While we’re on the subject, I take is Westminster Abbey is completely safe? I mean, not built in a swamp, or at the outer limits of what arches can do, or anything? (Asking for a friend who works nearby).

The problem for women in NZ has always been cis men & the lack of consequences for them if they commit SA/DV/abuse - especially men in positions of power at work or in sports.Their prospects, potential, promotions, reputations, businesses come 1st - it’s said out loud, it’s not even a secret. #nzpol
“The belief appears to be based on the proposition that Police are justified in not undertaking, or in curtailing, an investigation into a sexual assault allegation if it would jeopardise a suspect's work or promotion prospects “

A belief that’s entrenched in the police and in NZ. #nzpol
Inside a 'cover-up': The top cops, the 'quasi investigation' and the officers who stood up
"It doesn't take a rocket scientist… Jevon has tried to get rid of this by making a complaint," wrote one officer, "... this looks like a cover-up."

A: "Upside down"

had an awful day. please reply with your favorite memory someone that totally ate shit in a physical way that isn’t a total bummer

This is an empirical and appalling measure of how far victims have to go for accountability from the senior ranks of the police, it is literally now evidenced that you need an 'I'LL DO TIME' online-harassment-case level of vengeance-seeking. It shouldn't be like this.
They prosecuted the woman who made complaints against him. #nzpol

“Over a period of years, Lack said the woman attempted to report allegations of a serious physical, psychological and sexual nature by McSkimming, who was one of the most powerful police officers in the country.” #misogny #corruption
Police bosses ignored sex complaints against top cop, charged woman for 'revenge' emails instead
Suppressions fall away to reveal the full story of the downfall of a deputy police boss.

Whanau, I did it. Unbelievably, I was born between 1968 and 2004. I couldn’t be sure I’d had 2 measles vaccinations (I definitely had one, it’s in my plunket book).

So, I had an MMR booster last week. If you, like me, aren’t sure, go and get one. They’re free and you can book via bookmyvaccine.

Yet another in the procession of middle aged white guys who sexually assault people and have their names suppressed and their reputations protected because they're 'prominent'. This guy got to have a couple of charges dropped because he pleaded guilty.

The man, whose name is suppressed, pleaded guilty to receiving "commercial sexual services" from a person aged under 18.

woke: emergent phenomena that differ at scale are important to every science
bespoke: emergent phenomena that differ at scale are the main force in society for at least the last thirty years
I think one way to understand what is happening in modern politics is that social media has taken groupthink dynamics that previously applied to dozens or hundreds of people, and scaled them up to millions
