Starting to feel like it's an explicit job requirement for political pundits not to admit the most consequential trend in American politics of the last 40 years.
Thank you TCW for this instant classic of Harper’s Letter sophistry, explaining that the categories "right" & "left" are unhelpful in understanding a campaign of kidnappings & assassinations undertaken by an ultra-right wing secret police force at the behest of an ultra-right wing political regime

not that long ago there were new videos every day of cops maiming and beating the shit out of protesters with gleeful abandon, and not only did “defund the police” get written off as extreme, joe biden got elected and proudly gave them even more money. it’ll easily happen again
there’s really no reason to think anyone who supported anything short of abolishing ice the past ten years isn’t going to go straight back to We Just Need Better Training when a dem is in office again. better to make that politically untenable before the campaigns even officially start

The agent who shot Renee was hired during the Obama/Biden Administration, and his agency was given record levels of funding by the Biden/Harris administration, with Harris promising to go further if she won.

The Dems admitted it last time he was in office. They liked trump in the white house because it turned into record fundraising for them. They'll keep dragging their feet until the coffers runneth over.
I genuinely believe everyone who could do more to stop Trump - but isn't - is just waiting it out; hoping he dies soon instead of standing against him, because they don't want to anger MAGA or lose their support.
People are dying while they calculate their most politically expedient next move. smdh

"The question that you're basically asking is, can our cops arrest them? From a legal perspective, yes. From a practical perspective...they have bigger guns than we do." That's where we're at.
