Man, it’s bad enough with Alexa. You’re here to be my on-demand jukebox (a job you suck at) and tell me the weather. Our relationship ends there. I don’t want a “morning routine”, hydration alerts or for you to pipe up every time it rains (I own another more effective device called a window.)
"Would you like some toast? Some nice hot crisp brown buttered toast. No? How about a muffin then? Nothing? You know the last time you had toast. 18 days ago. I mean what's the point in buying a toaster with artificial intelligence if you don't like toast. This is my job. This is cruel, just cruel."
Also, this just in -> the latest bizarre AI fever dream is AI-controlled trivets, staplers, and coffee cups on wheels. So we'll be chased around by inanimate wheeled objects clamoring for our attention.

i'm a broken record on this: voters may not be able to express *why* you seem weak, but the accumulation of times you don’t punch back on behalf of your allies looks bad even to people 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 those allies. it's "this is how they treat their friends? guess they wouldn't care about me either"

This whole thread makes sense to me. Especially the fact that it asks questions rather than make categorical predictions.
Is there any chance today's electoral results in US prompt a course change among the various elites who'd memed themselves into thinking Trumpism was the will of the people and the wave of the future etc?

This says it all for me. I've been thinking about the scene in Trainspotting where someone says "I don't hate the English. They're just wankers. We on the other hand got colonized by wankers." We have an upper class that got colonized by wankers.
a big problem right now among our political, cultural and media elites is how few of them have any self-respect

For 26 but especially 2028 it's time for Democrats to make clear that the current Supreme Court will have to be reformed (expanded in number, reformed in structure) to allow popular govt to continue in the United States. Not so much a litmus test as precondition for any other promise to be credible.

I think the ex-GOP have had the psychic break that establishment Dems yet haven’t reckoned with: the old order and the lives that went with it are gone.
I, too, find myself shockingly inclined to prefer the neocons who actually want to eradicate fascism from polite society to the supposed liberals who don't seem to care
I am a dues-paying DSA member. I will take Tim Miller-Bill Kristol-Bulwark ppl any day over Jeffries-Schumer-DNC.

And let's also take a moment to honor the single-digit heroes: Markey (2), Merkley (7), Murphy (3), Sanders (5), Van Hollen (9), and Sanders (5).

see this is all we’ve been asking of the dems — we obviously know we’re not in the majority right now but ffs we should be using every chance we get to throw sand in the gears like this
With floor action ground to a halt by Speaker Johnson over Dem amendments on the Epstein files, House Democrats are now using them to jam up committees.

Includes Appropriations, Energy & Commerce, Financial Services, and Education & Workforce, which just shut down as Rs try to figure what to do:

The only problem that I have with my senator is that when it comes time to "write my senator" about something coming down the pipe, I almost feel helpless bc he's already all over it. Anyways, here's a prime example of how awesome my senator is 👇
NEWS --> Sen Ron Wyden writes to Pam Bondi, urging DOJ to probe $1.5 billion in Epstein financial transactions that banks flagged for Treasury Dept. He lays out roadmap for DOJ to examine money flow related to sex trafficking. Challenges Bondi in new way.

Ron Wyden has some ideas for Pam Bondi to pursue—if, that is, she’s genuinely interested in getting to the bottom of the Epstein scandal.

This is bonkers. The Senate is trying to sell off 3.3 MILLION acres of public land to raise money. This land is your land, as the song says. If you want to keep it that way, call your Senator and raise Holy hell. www.newsweek.com/map-federal-...
Map shows public land eligible for sale as MAGA and left unite to oppose
The Senate proposal, which could greatly affect outdoor recreation in the West, is facing strong pushback from conservationists, Democrats and MAGA supporters.

It is basically impossible to get people to believe that things like impoundment and extraordinary rendition and illegal trade wars are a crisis if nobody in a position of authority acts like they are.
The Senate just voted 66 to 32 to confirm Trump's investment banker, COVID conspiracy peddler ambassador to Japan.

Trump is eviscerating the constitution, and they are pretending like everything is normal.

Why are these people so WEAK? (This is my rep, I'm ashamed to say)
RFK Jr. is not wrong. We are failing to keep our communities healthy. This message resonates with many.

But I have serious concerns about his ability and expertise to lead such a sweeping overhaul of the HHS workforce. We need accountability, not just rhetoric.
